Are you an Orthodox Jew? Is that different from Hasidic?

So what you're saying, is that if I can somehow find a way to undercut the status quo in the kosher market....

Yes, I am an Orthodox Jew, but not Hasidic (although I do play a chasidic in that current play we're rehearsing) Hasidism is a subset of Orthodoxy. Our family are what's called "Modern Orthodox" or "Centrist Orthodox" (You can read the wikipedia articles on them to see the differences)

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
I woke up several times last night with my left arm in some odd position and completely numb. This isn't the first time it's happened; I remember talking about it here once before. But my mom is tying it with the left-side lymph node and weird pain thing from Tuesday, so I half-expect to be taken to a cardiologist and/or sleep specialist, who will probably tell me I'm completely normal and send me on my way.
Realistically it probably won't happen, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did. I'd probably be pissed, though.

I don't think I could live anywhere without a decent public health system. Even though I don't have to go to the doctors very often, I'm glad I don't have to worry about the bank if something does come up.

I finally have good insurance, but I'm paying a decent amount for it. Luckily (or unluckily) I'm getting my money out of it. After a root canal and needing my wisdom teeth removed soon, I think i'll have made it worth it.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
My mom picked me up from school today. I always walk around campus with five or ten pounds (depending on the day) in a bag hanging off my left shoulder. So she saw me carrying it like that today, and as soon as I got in the car, she says, "I know what's wrong with your shoulder. You have a pinched nerve." So I'm like, "...What?" And she goes on to explain how it was probably caused by me carrying my stuff the way I do. And how my arm would go numb whenever I had it in a certain position in my sleep. And possibly even why it was twitching and stuff last Tuesday when my lymph nodes were swollen (it was probably pressing on and aggravating the nerve there).
So no cardiologist or sleep specialist for me. No doctors at all, actually.
Armulus: Wisdom-tooth extraction surgery isn't bad. Just remember to eat lots afterwards, BEFORE taking the pain killers, and remember to keep eating as long as you keep taking those painkillers. I had a bad experience involving that, and I will probably never look at a bottle of Oxycodone the same way ever again. It was NOT pretty....

Snick: I've woken up with completely numb extremities several times. If you roll over on it, and you're sleeping too deeply to wake up, it'll go numb because you cut off the circulation.

What's really scary is waking up so suddenly that you still can't move (see sleep paralysis) and the reason you've woken up is that you somehow managed to roll over so that you can't breathe and so you just lie there for a minute trying desperately to move but your whole body feels so heavy and you can't breathe and it feels like it takes you so long to move.
*shudders* Let me just say, I never want to be paralyzed, ever ever ever.

The worst I ever had from sleeping the wrong way was once when I slept on my arm. My arm was so numb and cut off that I couldn't even lift it. I lifted my arm with the other arm and let go and couldn't control it. I was scared to death. After about 5 minutes i was able to gain motor control.

It's always on top of me, never have I woken up on it when this happens.

It was kind of like that. Except, again, I wasn't on my arm. But it was the numb-and-too-heavy-to-lift-without-the-assistance-of-my-other-arm and takes-five-minutes-to-regain-motor-control type of thing. I think it's the fact that it's numb or something that makes me wake up.
I dunno, it's weird.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
This happens to me often. If you have your arm up above your head while you sleep, or in other weird positions, it cuts off the circulation as well. There have been times when I woke up in shock, getting slapped on the face by my own numb arm, after rolling over too quickly. I'm not joking, this has happened to me at least twice. Scary as hell.
