Is it a capital rule breech to cook meat since there's no fire in cantr yet?
Seriously, A way to cook meat without iron is a good thing. Call it a camp fire, make it use twice as much stone, since you have to stack it up and make a big ring, and have it use more wood to cook with than a firepit since it broadcasts more heat and catches more wind.

Reality was never my strong point.

I believe the small fire pit was intended to be convenient for nomadic and primitive societies. If I find that that is in fact the purpose of the small fire pit, then it is possible that the shovel requirement will be replaced with something else.
Ahhh...rather than adjusting the requirements for the fire pit, we chose some time back to create an alternative device, which does not require iron....
This item is in the game, btw
