Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
My day was okay...psychiatrist appt, and lots of coughing and popsicles. Cut my bangs and didn't even make them crooked this time!
The only really lame part of today was that Queen's just so happened to be the only university/college in southern Ontario that didn't have canceled classes today due to the "snowstorm." I put that in quotation marks because they issue severe storm warnings and close everything down here as soon as it's cold and there's a foot of snow. Where I'm from it's almost down to minus 40 (celsius) with the windchill in Jan/Feb, and (only) a foot of snow is a nice thing. I bet the kids from the territories choked to death laughing at the weather network this morning.

And all that is now
And all that is gone
And all that's to come
And everything under the sun is in tune
But the sun is eclipsed by the moon.

... minus 40 is the only temperature where you don't have to specify °F or °C....

Yes you do!For people like me who didn't know -40ºC = -40ºF until I googled it!

I didn't know either, I've never used Fahrenheit before, I have no idea how it works!

Are you from a glacier? Are you a polar bear?
I'm a GRITS, myself (only, I can read) so to me, cold is under 60, and unbearable is anything under 40 (Fahrenheit of course). Don't even talk to me about freezing or below. I get uncontrollable shivers at 50, and by 40, I'm wearing two pairs of pants and three coats. Eugh.
I remember every December/January, when I lived in SC, we'd be like crackhead chipmunks staring at the sky, scurrying around "Is it gonna snow? We gonna get snow this year?" and we would and I wouldn't even have time to build a snowman before it cleared. School would always be closed down, though, because school officials seemed to think that white stuff was the sky falling and we were all going to die.
The occasional ice snaps we'd get were awesome, though, because we lived out in the middle of the country, with pines all around our house, and at the slightest breeze they'd creak alarmingly, and everything was quite and you'd just hear stuff falling for miles.
That was as close to real snow as I got. It was always a fun break, a vacation thing.
Then I went to Seattle to visit family, and I went to the mountains (thinking, "Snow! Fun!") and developed an intense hatred for snow or anything snow related. IT'S SO COLD!

"Crackhead chipmunks" made me LOL, so I googled the phrase. Other than here, it appears essentially only 6 other times on the internet (I'm not including quotes of other people's posts as separate instances). I think it deserves more than that. Let's make it go viral!

At -40, your boat is not gonna get very far....

Okay, class, since apparently they don't actually teach kids things any more:
To convert from F to C: 1) subtract 32, 2) divide by 9, 3) multiply by 5.
To convert from C to F: 1) divide by 5, 2) multiply by 9, 3) add 32.
-40-32*5/9=-40

There is just too much non-Cantr-related stuff I have to deal with at the moment. It sucks!

This is how the past few days has gone: get super duper bad coldsore. Brush teeth. Nothing happens. Brush teeth like 6 more times. Coldsore gets worse. Go to sleep. Sleep 10 hours. Get up. Have splitting headache that feels like someone is literally squeezing your head. Try not to cry. Try to swallow some aspirin. Ten minutes after you woke up, try to get online. Internet's out. Go back to sleep immediately. Wake up 10 hours later. Headache gone, coldsore worse.

What do you expect to happen after brushing your teeth?

Usually, when I feel one coming on, I just brush my teeth a couple of extra times (paying extra attention to the spot where it's at) and it goes away.

I'm assuming this is the ulcerative kind of sore you get on your gums, and not the ones people get on their lips? If so, put salt on it and hold it on there as long as you can stand. It will burn like hell, but it'll feel better after. Repeat as needed. I like to wet my finger and dip it in table salt, then just press my finger to it.

Really? I usually just gargle with warm salt water made from tap water and epsom salt. You think it'll work after I put oragel on it? That way I won't feel the pain.
I've been putting it on there on and off all day, but it makes the whole right side of my face go numb, so *shrugs* it's a lose/lose.

This always always always makes me think of Seko. I have both that audio track and the Hatsune Miku version on my iPod, and the original always makes me think of Seko.
And these Polish twins I saw on Intervention who kind of looked like Seko, but skinnier.
