Pointing with Objects

Postby Appleide » Sat Jul 10, 2004 11:40 pm

It would be nice to be able to *point* with a staff... is that possible already? Then if something weird happens, then you just say your staff did it....

Someone already suggested poiting at and with objects. Rather recently, actually...

I... don't know if pointing with an object is possible already, or not possible at all.

That "Point" button obvious needs properties, but I'm unsure if they're "global" properties that can be applied to an objects code. Maybe... >.>

I'll look into this.

Hold on what are you saying?

Make objects useful for pointing? Instead of the finger?

Could do something like the violence system, choose what you want to point at with then point.

But then you can't attack them later, correct? Why change the violence system so that 0% points, when you could add the pointing task to the objects, point with it, then attack in the same day? May be more work for us (Resources), but it'll be better for the players.

Thats not what i meant, i said something Like the violence system not something with it. Like how you have the point button and the attack button. When you click on the attack button it gives options of what to attack with. What i suggest is do something like that with the point button give the option of what to point with, instead of having it just point.

Oh! That's what I was explaining before.

'point>point>Point at this person'

That would be a button on an object :D

What if you added a value to the damage percent menu?
For example, now if you punch with 0% you slap, or if you hit an animal with 0% you poke, but if you crossbow with 0% you still 'shoot'.

Couldn't you make a "point" value in that damage tree?

Right here. With the violence system, if you slap someone, or poke them, you've used your attack. You could point at them with your weapon, to show what you have, then attack them - if it were button style and not intregrated into the weapon system.

As well, not all objects are weapons, so you can't point at them with other odd things, like a trowel or iron pot. That would be funny, too... :D
