begs the question: how complex can Cantr get and still be fun to play/accessible?

the tech for making clothes would have to be lower, some of the machines need steel, and that aint right. That means most people won't be able to make clothes

I don't think it's unrealistic. Olip Forest has all the stuff to make clothes already built. I don't think any hazards for not wearing clothes should come along until clothes have been around for at least a few years. It would be like setting animals lose at the same time weapons are introduced.

but not everywhere has steel, and people had clothes way way way way way way before steel, before iron, bronze, or stone even. Long before any kind of metal came about, so there should be ways of making simple clothes without needing steel for machines

Yeah...perhaps there could be machines with steel that would speed up the process, but it seems strange that such basic stuff as clothes will demand something so valuable as steel...

Maybe you could just wrap the hide around yourself. I don't think they had Blue Jeans back then though. And Remember we have helicopter engines before clothes.

Before helicopters even.. just the opposite of real history, when all kinds of helicopter designs were created, but there was no engine to power it.

About clothes, I think last time we talked about clothes on the Yahoo! Board, Jos said that everyone will be given a set of clothes to start off with so that you aren't in the nude. I was wondering if this is still being planned for the future of clothes?

But in Cantr everyone starts out at 20 years of age so hopefully by that time they would have some clothes. Babies though shouldn't be born with clothes so when children are introduced then people would have to make clothes for them.
