Acid Test -

Hey Jean don't make me sad
Take my bad song and make it better
Clan members let us into your home
Then we can start to make it better

Hey Jean don't fall asleep
I need your help with all the letters
Whenever you start closing your eyes
I wrap you up with your old sweater

When you look and see our hills, Hey Jean, don't strain
We'll spread the word of laughs around us
For all who know, I am Endo, lets clap lets go
By making his world a little brighter

You're there too? I whispered Endo after that and asked him not to use adaptations in the future. It would ruin the role play I think. It was a nice effort though.

Personally, it doesn't bother me a bit to hear RL songs used. I don't feel like the players use them so as they sound like a rockstar or so as they sound like they have a good voice or even to remind you of the real world---They use them because they personally find something about the song that reminds them of the characters IC. It's that meaning, that sometimes can't be produced in words that you make up yourself or in any sort of order, that I take from what I hear when someone supposedly sings a RL song, with or without adaptions. I'll be the last person to tell someone to make up their own song and quite frankly to tell someone they aren't creative because they can't make up their own "lyrical" gem, is cheaper than what's being criticized if you ask me. Just my 2 cents. Plus, I haven't ever heard a song IC that I could put with any sort of jingle in my head whether flutes were being played at the same time or not---Usually they always sound crappy. I can't understand the music that should go with, so I can't understand if it's upbeat, if it's sad, if it should make my char want to get up and dance, so I can't then have my character respond in kind............Usually those who rp singing, so far that I have seen, and use their own lyrics, fail to rp how it should sound to others. At least with RL lyrics I can plug it in to Youtube, and figure it out for myself.
I hate people.

I've seen one or two people use *sings "song" (to the tune of "RL song")* emotes.
Another one posted an OOC comment in the game itself with a link to a midi file of what their song was supposed to sound like. (It wasn't a commonly known song, at least, not to my knowledge. But it helped immensely.)

Another char just C&P'd their songs. And it was very weird to read as a player, especially when [GUITAR SOLO] appeared, and that character doesn't even own a guitar. But my char liked it, so whatever.

I guess the solution then is for people to just write their own songs, put them on the internet, link to them, and then sing the words IG. Any Cantr players here who write songs?

Did someone call? :P
I think the description of music could either be focused on the lyrics or the sounds.
I, for instance, prefer to "hum" melodies with very detailed musical descriptions, that sadly might not be comprehensible for most. But they're detailed alright, believe me!
Others take quite an effort in their poetical lyrics, and the job shouldn't be underestimated. A good verse can give you quite a hint of what the accompaniment music might sound like.

It's the old discussion: music at the service of words or vice versa? Both ways can work quite harmonically.

Oh, and I don't think posting links to midis is a good idea, but that's me.

Why don't we remove the event chat box, and allow people to upload youtube videos of their characters actions instead?

I'm afraid we'd need an option to link to porntube as well

I hope you don't think "frown upon" is an actual phrase in that context, and that you actually meant to type "frowned upon".

Yeah, the title has been bugging me as well. I didn't feel like pointing it out since the writer is a new member and all, but I was hoping someone would just stealthily fix the grammatical error and spare me from cringing.
