Vehicle Locks

Postby Rob Maule » Sun Sep 28, 2003 10:33 pm

I think that there should be two types of vehicle locks. Or one with two options. This way, you could, lock the wheels of a bike so that it does not move. Much like the ones used to lock one to a bike rack. But there should also be an option to build a lock that would keep people in/out. That would allow them to be used as storage containers. Or prisons! The way locks work now, they could be moving prisons. I'm tempted to use them for that.

Imagine a mass murderer stuck on a tandem bike. But wait, that would mean he could flee faster. And not be able to be dragged out. Hmm... We need wheel locks!

This could also apply to other vehicles: boats, cars, etc.

P.S. - wheel locks would also apply to the ignitions of cars and oars/sails of boats

Maybe not so much as a wheellock, but defiently an ignition lock for anything with an engine.

I think the fact that you can lock someone inside a bike is just..strange...I can't imagine it, anyway.

Bikes don't have engines though. Maybe only being able to lock them from being moved? Because IRL, you can still get on a locked bike.

And boats would be the same. Small boats would prevent movement, but allow boarding. Large boats with a inner hull (?) could have a lock to prevent movement and to lock up things in storage (meaning not being able to be boarded?).

I can just imagine it....a big ship that pulls into port, a bunch of people hop out, drag a bunch of people aboard and sail off....

Haha, not much different than when the opposite happened to one of my characters. He was on a boat, a guy hopped on, then sailed away. But then he killed my guy. Greedy pirate...

Thats so funny in a horribly murderous way but I digress, locking things is good we need to do that, that way you could be a huge paranoia freak and if there was traps implemented you'd lay a trap inside the door of your home and then lock the door, which is re-inforced with a layer of iron creating an ultimate door! So if somebody got through (unlikely) they'd be all allright we got through then WHAM speared through the chest.

Got a bit carried away their in my plans for evil but its okay now.....right through the chest!

I'd like a bucket of water option too.

I think bikes should only have wheel locks, and have wheel locks (or ignition if that's what you want to think of it as) and door locks on things like cars and trucks

I'm also in favor of having the locks and functions vary for different vehicles.

How do you think locks on boats should work? Maybe only locking it in dock. But then be able to build storage containers on board. Oh wait, you can. But they don't work yet. Crap.

I guess it depends on the boat. I don't beleive there are any speed boats are there? I don't really have a good picture of what all the boats look like yet.

Many of the bigger boats should, in a realistic view, require a large crew to be operational...a single man stealing a longboat is kind of hard to vision

A lock for a boat could be like, dropping anchor and locking the anchor...o_o, or you could have a lock for the controls so like, the rudder won't move or something...I don't know what I'm talking about anymore so I'll shut up.
