It will work, but there are changes to come soon. Not so much for CantrSpy, but for the players using it. :)

Is there a way to pick your language setting or does it guess based on what language your computer is in? Part of it was in Spanish for me, but so is my computer and browser.

There will be when I publish the new version! I'm going to see if I can get my account reactivated to make sure it works smoothly first though. Shouldn't take long.

CantrSpy 2.8.1 has been unleashed!!!

The Spanish translation has been taken care of, thanks to alf (Pilot), so I'm releasing a new version now, to (almost) neatly coincide with Cantr's return. If you have a recent previous version you should be able to upgrade automatically, otherwise here is a link to the

Installer.

The following notable changes have been made:

  • The interface is available in English or Spanish (apart from the tick timings, which are just, for now, a conveniently wrapped external web page); by default, the Adobe AIR runtime will decide which language to use based on the operating system settings, and the preferred language can be selected in the settings window.

  • You can now choose to be visually alerted when a character "becomes active", i.e. a character who was previously "greyed out" observes a new event, by having the icon start to flash in response to such events. You can choose to have it flash indefinitely, until you stop it by either single-clicking the icon, or using the "stop flashing" option in the context menu, or you can set it to flash for, at most, a number of seconds of your choice.

  • Consequently, the act of single-clicking the icon now has dual functionality: if the icon is flash, the click will stop it from flashing, otherwise it will force CantrSpy to refresh.

  • As requested, the Tick Timings window is resizable (the position and size of the window will also persist across sessions). The other features (customising the content of the window) are still pending.

  • You can choose whether or not to have the "tick timings" item the context menu through the settings window. By default it is disabled (simply because I imagine not everyone would find it useful there).

The latest versions of Adobe AIR seem to have some nice features, like the ability to compile AIR applications to standalone applications that can be installed on a particular OS without the need for the AIR Runtime, which I may well incorporate into CantrSpy in addition to the list of other features for which a need is felt.

It's not dependent of Cantr time, and works very well for "chat" events in game without it. :)

But I agree it's awesome.

It seems I'm missing a few ticks since the tick timings are a bit behind. :)

Would it help if I gave you the exact times when the various jobs are run (assuming the time of the server somewhat correlates to real life time) ?

As you may recall, the problem with Mandriva was caused by the way passwords are stored - it relies on an operating system component that encrypts data based on user accounts on the system, which is, in some way, not compatible with AIR in the case of Mandriva.

I think that instead of diminishing the security of passwords stored on platforms with which the current system works, I'll add an option to store passwords in a less secure but more compatible form (such that a person obtaining your hard drive could, if determined, easily find out your password - no different from just saving it in a text file). The change may involve all current saved passwords having to be re-entered.

Even pidgin only saves passwords in plain text.
