At least through AP tests, I think freeing up your schedule is generally a good idea. I managed to test out of general English, and I wish I had passed out of more, so that I can take other classes instead, and maybe somehow get a minor or something in Spanish (maybe if I can fit in 24 hours somewhere..(and test out of the 1's and 2's)).
I definitely wouldn't go for less than four years though. And yes it's nice! You learn much. :D

Part of why I take the AP courses, actually, is because they don't cost me anything. In the state of Florida, AP courses are paid for by the government. :D
[Disclaimer: This does not mean I support the government paying for everything, but seeing as the college I want to get into is roughly $40k a year (which does not include dorms) it is convenient for me.]

I originally wanted to do a music major, but if I get into the college I want to get into, then I will have to double-major in music and business. But seeing as business is not something that particularly captures my interest, I might not end up going there. I'm still not entirely sure what I would do from there, but science and math seem to be strong points for me (I have a 98 in my AP Chemistry class currently, and I earned a 103 on the semester exam (which I didn't study for)), so I'm considering majoring in somewhere in the science field (probably biochemistry) with a minor in music. But all of this is tentative, it could definitely change, and my high school education will definitely have a huge effect on it.

Right now, the AP courses my high school offers are core academics, such as Chemistry, Biology, Statistics, World History, English Literature, Psychology, et al. As far as I know, you need all of those classes for an AA degree, so I'm getting some of them out of the way now.

Why I'm doing AP instead of dual enrolling? I've heard that dual enrolling is easier, actually. But the main things keeping me away are my indecisiveness of what college I want to attend, the fact that I can't drive yet, and band. Dual enrolling only counts within the state, whereas AP counts all over the country, with acceptance levels varying by college. (Did I say all this before? I feel like I have, but I don't feel like looking.)

It was free for me also, because of financial aid (with 10 siblings you can qualify for lots of free stuff), though I didn't know it was free until after I signed up.
Even with cost though (and my first AP test did cost me), it's still cheaper than college classes.
I don't see much point in duel enrolling, unless like a few of my friends you finished AP Calculus your junior year and want to move on to Calc 3 and such, or if you really want to take a class and your high school doesn't offer much else for you to do.

So I get home today...and there are 5 cop cars at my apartment...we have 5 cop cars in the whole town..My land lady the crazy bitch she is thought I was selling drugs. I dont sell drugs..I buy them sure I smoke Pot I like Pot do I smoke a lot no I cant afford a lot do I smoke at home no I do not it's an Apartment that would be stupid. So the cops check in every place take my car rip it apart. and of course find nothing.

You maybe wondering why she is doing this. Well I found her in my place 4 days ago. That is against the law. A land owner must give you 24 hours notice and cant just barge the fuck in no matter what so I told her to get the fuck out or I would call the cops..I am moving in jan and I have a lease so I could care less what I say to her. So I explain this to the cops who after they found nothing not even a roach or Bowl...I smoke joints..and I roll my own smokes so papers on the table dont matter when you look at them for more then a moment and I explain all of this to the cop who was dealing with it all. A friend of mine I might add. She was very mad.

So the town is paying for my car to be fixed they ripped some shit up and broke a door panel off. 3 grand I dont have thank fucking god. I dont want to deal with this shit no reason I should 2 months and I am moving if I cant get out sooner.

Fuck my life I hate people.

....I hope you know there are minors reading this, Brent.

Not that it matters much anymore (which it does, but the world and a large percentage of society says it doesn't).... I don't go a single day without hearing vulgar language from somebody's mouth except on days I stay home and/or go to church. It doesn't make you look smarter or more grown up when you use language like that. I simply find it annoying and distracting and unattractive in every definition, and I'm sure you could've found a way to describe the events without foul language.

I don't mean to preach or lecture....just letting you know my thoughts.

True I am sure I could have..I should try harder..but my day and this past month has been bad long and bad. I have two long months to go. At least one until my friends are down to hang out until we all move in. They are in school hence the place to live and them being here for a month. Really wish my car was not in pieces right now.

....I got neither the reference nor the joke. Sorry. :?

Anyways, marching at 152 bpm uphill taking 14-to-5 steps (the length of one out of fourteen equal-sized steps within five yards) in 90-degree heat (we're having record highs!) while trying to remember which out of a repertoire of three songs to play and then actually playing those in time and over the sirens of the fire engines in front of us is rather enervating.

And then it's quite irritating afterwards when you're lined up against the side of the road and the people on the last of the passing floats are throwing candy, and the people standing on the side of the road are literally tackling each other to get the candy. And then trading candies with each other as well as not picking up the ones they don't want (most of which are the ones I don't like). My band director (who was standing right next to me) is included in that group of people.
Needless to say, I got no candy from any of the floats. Which doesn't surprise me. At best in any parade, I get three pieces of candy, and those are usually pieces my parents obtained from the floats when they passed by them.
Not that I actually care about candy, but it is a nice commodity every so often, especially when it's offered to me at no charge as it was today (but alas I was unable to obtain any).

Really, though. Why do people put so much emphasis and value on candy? There are people from my school who buy licenses to buy and sell candy at the school (always upcharged, but people buy it!) in classes, and I've seen people go insane because they haven't had their daily Hershey bar (or whatever it is they buy everyday). They expect it daily, and I wonder what happens in their home life when they can't go to school and buy the candy that they normally do. Do they have a secret stash under their beds or in a shoebox in their closet or something? Honestly. People can live without candy EVERY SINGLE DAY. I do it all the time. For me, candy is a treat, something I don't get very often, and I cherish it more when I do get it. If I had it everyday, I'm sure I'd take advantage of the source and I'd have a lot less money saved up than I do now.

To all candy addicts: You have better use for your time and money, and there are better things you could be eating, like vegetables, fruits, fish, et al. I know people are probably going to cringe at the mention of vegetables and fish, but honestly. If prepared correctly, these things can be DELICIOUS. Even fish, although I might be a bit biased, since I love fish. Not to mention, these foods are healthy and will make you feel better than candy ever could.

I'm not saying cut candy completely out of your life. A little bit here and there is okay. But people eating it as excessively as they do need to cut back, imo.

....I imagine I just made myself highly unpopular amongst the daily consumers of candy.

Honestly, though. There are a lot of things I could write long rants about. But I'm going to stop now, and go to bed because I am dead tired. Between school, the parade, and then rehearsal afterwards..... yeah.

Also, I think that if you eat healthier consistently, then in the future you'll want to eat healthier, and not want to eat unhealthy stuff (I personally don't enjoy eating unhealthy stuff much, though I like eating in general, and I have reasonable cookies (not just sugar + frosting) and cakes sometimes, as well as candy. I like it better if its healthy). Both your mind and your body can get used to eating better. I should also mention that you can get addicted to unhealthy eating habits (candy, pop, etc.)

How dare you! Candy rocks....without it, we would not have gotten to listen to all of those teenybop songs from the 60's and 70's.

Okay...maybe that was a bad example. Wait, didn't Montrose do Rock Candy? Yes! Vindication is mine!

Brent...I am not totally sure on this, but I do not think that your landlord has the authority to just walk in unannounced to your apartment. When you purchase that space, you should have a reasonable expectation of privacy. There are some exceptions of course, but I would be surprised if she (I think you said 'she') was able to state that she thought somebody was in imminent danger or dead (unless you were in the head). I am not a lawyer, so take everything I say with a grain of salt, but it doesn't seem right unless you signed something in the lease agreement maybe. Just something to check out if this is something that is really eating your craw and you are feeling vengeful.

Be well

I'm feeling utterly disgusted with people right now.

General, ridiculous ranting:
1. People like you are the worst kind of pretentious bastard. You fail at trying to cover it up by being joke-y and seemingly polite. You give entire groups a bad name.
2. WHAT THE FUCK DOES OPRAH HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING EVER? Seriously? Quit making stupid comments and asking stupid questions because you're straining everyone to the limit of trying to figure out how to tell you you're freaking wrong without actually saying it.
3. How is that even remotely the same?
4. Hop right along in those pretentious footsteps, darlin'.
5. I will gnaw your arm off if you don't stop with the mixed signals.
6. Would it really kill you to stop being a godsdamned stereotype?

On the awesome side, I'm almost finished rereading this series and am spoiled for choices of what to read next instead of scrabbling around in boxes desperately searching for something.

I have many talented co-workers. They are rearranging some groups of desks at the office today, and one co-worker (who had a network switch behind his desk) asks if it is ok to pull my network plug while he moves. I answer: "NO, I have important work I need to finish in the next fifteen minutes". He says "Ok", and pulls the power cord to the switch instead. *facepalms*
