Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
And then they take it and grade it. If you're lucky, you'll have a teacher who doesn't give a crap on how well you do on it, just that you do it. One of my teachers is like that.
I can't function like that, though; I have to answer accurately and precisely. I always feel really guilty whenever I BS something, even if it's because I'm out of time, or I've spent too much time trying to make it perfect to where my brain hurts from mental exhaustion and I'm like, "Screw this."
If I understand the topic, then let's move on! Don't make me do tons of pointless worksheets unless you're actually grading the content.
That's what I love about my chemistry class, though. My teacher is amazing. He assigns problems to do, but they're completely optional (though it's often helpful to do them). It's not busywork in the sense that it isn't purely for the sake of work—it's for the sake of better understanding the topic. Why can't my English class be like that?
Recently we were assigned worksheets for vocabulary I'd done in fourth grade, and we had grammar worksheets (mostly punctuation and capitalisation) daily in my freshman year (although that teacher actually graded the content). Grammar and punctuation are both things that were hammered and branded into me in third grade and probably second grade also (but I don't remember much of second grade), and since then I have been a grammar nazi, so-to-speak. So it kills me that high school students have failed simple grammar worksheets. It's elementary school work.
-insert long continuation of rant here that basically says the same thing as above-

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
Thanks Doug.
I've been in the 'higher' grouping of my classes through school and I never had busy work, kinda glad now haha
We would just advance along the course work at a faster place and when we finished we would just start the next level or move onto extension work, but always in a pursuit of knowledge. Guess we had the benefit of a more comprehensive schooling system? Who knows.
I do remember grade seven (The end of our primary school) I did a large amount of maths owing to the fact my teacher was also a professor of physics and mathematics. Ah memories.
Ohhh a related note. I had a small investigation into my marks for my college courses. They were curious to the discrepancy between getting very high marks in some courses and failing or just scrapping through in others. After a few interviews they finally accepted my explanation that I never really bothered with uninteresting electives and excelled on courses I enjoy. Ugh..more stress on already being dicked over by them with my graduation.

Kronos - I think the schools in Mongolia are better than US schools.
Brent - She was putting holes in your condoms? What a psycho! Must be one of those desperate, "if I get knocked up he'll marry me" psychos.

So now I am living with my sister and her 4 kids 2 being under the age of 2. But it's all good new job in jan! So I am moving..new town new job and new game to play.
And guys! ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS!! check for holes even if your long term girlfriend or wife because you never know someone perfectly. And it's nice to know I was not the only one lol.
Oh and US schools are terrible. Lack of proper funding and lack of good teachers.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
Not to mention Florida is #50 in the States for education (but we still made the Top 50, right?).
I'm in advanced classes also. My World Literature class is the major downfall, though, because of all the pointless busywork. I get the subject material perfectly fine, it's not hard, it's just tedious, and I get bored, especially since we're still into discussing elementary school-type things like grammar (we're into prepositions now, yay). And when I get bored, I'm less likely to do it (unlike other people, who will do it to get it over with and move on to something more fun).
But now I have to overcome my boredom and do it.
So I am going on what will hopefully be a short hiatus until either the semester winds down or I get everything done and turned in, whichever comes first (hopefully the latter, because then I control when it happens). This happens every year; it'll get better before the end of the month. And I'm going to shut up now, before I start blabbering about whatever (I've deleted several paragraphs already), and try to get something done even though it's 11pm here and school starts at 7:27am which means I have to be up at 6am.
*shuts up and attempts to accomplish something productive*

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
Why, thank you, Doug.
It took maybe ten minutes, the hardest part being my attempts to center the small text. Now that I look at it, I realise I also got the colour wrong.
Oh well.
RotD: I hate hiatus.
RotD2: Morning announcements are so tedious. It starts with the same stupid speech made up of nearly every cliché that exists.
Last post until end of Hiatus, I hope.

Cantr II is a social simulator. What is not working is due a problem in the society.
Cantr is like Vegas - what happens in the game should be in the game.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
Okso. I have good news and I have bad news regarding today.
The bad news was that the run of our show today was by far not our best run.
The good news is we still qualified for State and won first place in our class.
The bad news is we didn't block our score for State.
The good news is nobody else did either, in both competitions today, except for a school from Georgia who cannot go to State here because they are from out-of-state.
The good news is that we signed on early enough to still get a good slot at State.
The bad news is that we have to spend that much more time in rehearsal fixing everything and making it presentable for State in five weeks.
…And now the bus smells like Sprite because somebody dropped theirs in the aisle.
Anyways, what all this means is I got no homework done today (which was expected), so it adds one day to the end of when I can expect to be back. But it's all due by Thursday, so it means I have to seriously cram tomorrow, and unless I'm being naughty and procrastinating again (unfortunately likely), don't expect anything from me.
