Omg.....I just realised that I have resorted to talking about the WEATHER of all things.
As well as over-using smilies.

I mean, I knew I was posting it at the time I was posting it, but I just now realised the ridiculousness of it.

But I did go ice-skating today, and it was really cold in there (well, not really, but my hands were hurting and getting numb when I had to tighten the laces on my skates), but then when we came out of the rink it was like my hands were on fire compared to in the ice den (yes, that's what they called it....).
I can't recall my ankles having ever been in more pain. Those skates fit terribly on me. lol.....

overusing smileys is not necessarily a bad thing  at least it makes more smiles to the world, for as long as you won't see The Green Smiley on browser tab's head

Yesterday I watched 20th Century Boys Chapter One movie, and I'm REALLY impressed. True, you'd have to be a complete retard to spoil such a plot, but still... although seeing that the author himself supervised the production...
Anyway, now I'm downloading the next two parts. Daaamn, it's so hard to find a good file version, with proper subs... ehhh...

I saw Ponyo today and the signaling scene was the funniest. I managed to find a French clip of it online. http://www.wat.tv/video/ponyo-sur-falai ... gnzh_.html It probably works in any language but I think it was funnier in French than in Finnish, unless I missed something in the first viewing. It went so fast that I probably did.

So, I was doing my English homework, which was this worksheet on vocabulary, all of which I knew already. Anyways, I come to one of the questions, and I see this:

Sorry the image sucks, I took it on my phone and uploaded it from there.

Yes, I know that, kronos. Doug is just plain awesome. 8)

It's a tedious vocabulary worksheet where you have to choose the correct definition of the bolded word. It seems very elementary to me; I know this stuff, in fact I knew it in fifth grade, so why am I being taught this stuff again in high school? It's no wonder Florida made it to the top 50 U.S. states in education.

I felt the same way about Texas when I was plonked into their shitty school system. It got to the point where I stopped wanting to go home because I was afraid I'd be too stupid to exist there.

In other news, I'm starting to recover! Also, I'm dying of tests. Why am I here? *flee*

I was thinking the same! My 10 year old gets this level of homework. Well, you'll have no excuse for getting any wrong then.
Reveal to me the mysteries
Can you tell me what it means?
Explain these motions and metaphors
Unlock these secrets in me
Describe the vision, the meaning is missing
Won't anybody listen?

I got that level of homework when I was ten, but I was in a class exclusively for gifted kids at the time, so that was expected. This homework is coming from a high school Honours class. Being smart almost isn't worth it anymore.

I read an essay recently (in that very class, ironically; I didn't get to keep the paper, though, else I'd post it here) that schools in a sense are discouraging the more intelligent kids by placing them in classes with their less intelligent peers, so they have to sit through things they've known about long ago, and because they're smarter than the rest of the class, the teacher basically just hands them more busywork. I don't know about other people, but busywork is my major downfall: if there's no point to it that I can see other than to give us paperwork to do, I pretty much refuse to do it until I'm forced (which is why I'm really not doing well in that class grades-wise  ). People don't like excessive busywork, which is exactly what we receive. In fact, the sheer fact that they do that is a serious demotivator for the 'gifted' students, and it promotes mediocrity no matter what the school says. Actions speak louder than words: the cliché has a LOT of truth to it.

If I can find the essay online or get a copy of it, I'll post it here.
