Song texts adapted to cantr

Postby Andu » Mon Sep 20, 2010 6:40 am

I'll start with mine that I made earlier.

Cantr roads(Country roads)

Almost heaven, West Pok Mountains
Grey rich mountains, there are no river.
Life is old there, older than the hematite,
Younger than the mountains, growing like a breeze.

Cantr roads, take me home,
To the place where I belong,
West Pok Mountains, mountain mama.
Take me home, Cantr roads.

All my mem'ries gather 'round her,
Miner's lady never seen blue waters.
Dark and dusty painted on the sky,
Misty taste of moonshine, teardrops in my eye.

Cantr roads, take me home,
To the place where I belong,
West Pok Mountains, mountain mama.
Take me home, Cantr roads.

I hear her voice, in the mornin' hour she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away.
And driving down the road I get a feeling
That I should have been home yesterday,
yesterday.

Hm, I think they are fine, surely no bandits have attacked while I was gone... :?
"An those with little fuel, could tie a pack of bears in front of their limousine, with whip and crossbow in hands to keep them in line."

I was bored, so I came up with this today during Art class.
I'm not sure exactly what I was thinking with the bridge…I think it was the last part I did and I just wanted to get it finished by that point.
I apologise for the song choice, but it happened to be the song that was running through my mind at the time.

"Rockin' the Green Screen"

Verse 1:
Let me tell y'all what it's like
Being on a serious Cantr-high.
It's amazing—if you don't believe
Find a journal written on a leaf
In Pok!

Verse 2:
I got chars runnin' through my brain
So addicting that I can't explain
But you would think it would cause me pain
To withdraw would be the highest shame.

Chorus:
I'm rockin' the green screen
Just like Doug and Seko are.
I'm rockin' the green screen
Except they are talented
I'm rockin' the green screen
Oh, would you just look at the time.
I gotta get off of my computer—
Oh wait! My chars have activity!

Verse 3:
I'm really nice and I don't put down
To the newspawns who show up in town.
It doesn't matter how weird they are
My fav'rite characters are quite bizarre.
I love roleplaying on this site
It brings my writing to new heights.

Chorus:
I'm rockin' the green screen
Just like Arenti is
I'm rockin' the green screen
Except he is talented
I'm rockin' the green screen
Oh, would you just look at the time
I gotta get off of my computer
But wait! My chars have activity!

Bridge(?):
On a high these days
I type more in the text box
Something about a rebel fox
Something about my cotton chemise
With pretty lace
But someone got really mad
When we came, and tried to hurt me really bad
It wasn't my idea
It wasn't my idea
It never was my idea
We were just passing through
And stopped to take a short rest

Y'all should know what it's like
Being on a serious Cantr-high.
(4x)
It gets me real hyped up, and I'm going to travel to (7x)
Puk!

Chorus:
Just like Alladinsane is
I'm rockin' the green screen
Except he's talented
I'm rockin' the green screen
Oh, would you just look at the time
I gotta get off of my computer
But wait! My chars have activity!
I'm rockin' the green screen!

You'd better look out because I'm comin' to Puk (x8)

Edit: added labels and repeats

No, it's "Rockin' the Suburbs" by Ben Folds. The original has some naughty words in it, which is why I apologised.

Destined to be a classic, though the chorus may need a little work,

What needs work in the chorus?

I know I followed the same format as in the original song for that part at least… It's probably the only part I really focused on in making it resemble the original.

It made me laugh.
Reveal to me the mysteries
Can you tell me what it means?
Explain these motions and metaphors
Unlock these secrets in me
Describe the vision, the meaning is missing
Won't anybody listen?

Short Cantrian spoof of "Thriller" by Michael Jackson. The other one was better though, despite the bad original. :\

It's close to midnight
Someone's tired, lurking in the dark
Under the green light
You acknowledge that tomorrow could be hard
You try to close it
But white text stops it before you can click
You check your character
As you read it this fact in your mind will start to click:
You're an addict

'Cause this is Cantr
Cantr II!
And no one can ever stop you
From keeping an eye on that beloved screen
You know it's Cantr
Cantr II
You're fighting reality
It's a-ddiction
Cantr, tonight!

You've made me laugh a lot, today, Snick! :D Liked both songs. Cleverly done. :)

Beautifully done! I've done a lot of song parodies in my time, and yours was great. (My first, actually, in second grade, was a service song for the astronauts to the tune of the Marine Corp Hymn)

I had to change very few of the lyrics. Not sure it's a good first attempt, but it made perfect sense to me! :)

Run To The Hills - Iron Maiden

Pirate men came across the sea
they brought us pain and misery
killed our tribes killed our creed
took our game for their own need

we fought them hard we fought them well
out on the plains we gave them hell
but many came too much for Dory
oh will we ever be set free?

following through dustclouds and barren wastes
stomping hard on the plains
chasing the pirates back to their holes
fighting them at their own game
murder for freedom the stab in the back
women and the weak, a cowards attack

run to the hills run for your lives
run to the hills run for your lives

pirates blue in the barren wastes
hunting and killing their game
raping the women and wasting the men
"the only good villagers are tame"
selling them mead and taking their gold
enslaving the young and destroying the old

run to the hills run for your lives
"She could make something sound stupid just by hearing it.”
"For a short moment there, you almost sounded human."

I can sooo relate to this.
Reveal to me the mysteries
Can you tell me what it means?
Explain these motions and metaphors
Unlock these secrets in me
Describe the vision, the meaning is missing

Well done Chroma.

I think I played that record to death in my late teens/early twenties, especially "hallowed by thy name"...I loved the joint guitar solo's. Saw Eddie live a few times as well; lots of fun.

Be well

Chroma.... thumb up

And for you all... nice songs, people. Maybe at another time I can come up with something to share. By now, I'll just enjoy reading yours
