Hey, maybe this topic could become a permanent place for new players to ask those kinds of questions... a resource that is driven by their questions and experiences.

You mean, like the FAQ link that Addicted referenced?

Ha! :-) Actually, not really, though -- yes, the FAQ useful, but newbie questions may be *so* obvious to the rest of us that we wouldn't even think about putting them in a FAQ. And sometimes a newcomer's questions aren't always the most "Frequently Asked" ones, but are still reasonable. FAQs are one-way. They *are* absolutely something that should be consulted, but what if a question isn't in the FAQ?

The reason I was kind of struck by this current conversation is that it's interactive and somewhat newbie-directed, unlike most FAQs. So it could be complementary to the FAQ.

The sticky Treasure island thread in this forum could also be useful, though also somewhat outdated threads in it.

NOOOOOOO! Only 60% movement on one char and 55% on the other in a whole day! @_@

Once I get there, I won't be moving for a while. >.>

So you are on a short road then :) It can take a week to get down some paths on foot.

You need 10kg of fur, 200kg of meat, 50kg of water, 10kg of small bones and 100kg of big bones to make a horse. I'd recommend aiming at making a car instead ;)

Aweee. I was looking forward to eventually being a voodoo man. :(

Anyways, I could have sworn I saw a motorcycle. What is that actually for if not a mount of some sort?

EDIT: Oh wait, you're new too? Bah, no wonder I'm confused, heh.

I'm new on forums, but I have played cantr before. Yes there are motorbikes. By mounts I meant riding horses, cows, lamas, goats... not to go too far you cannot ride animals. But there are quite a few machines to move you around.

Ah, then I apologize if I offended. I had been a bit confused by your new forum status, and by what you meant by mounts.

You didn't offend me  I was just being silly. How's cantr for new player anyway? Is it fun? Or too soon to ask?

Too soon to ask. Still waiting for my characters to die of hunger on their trek. In fact, only reason I'm moving them this early to begin with is because I can't find food anywhere near them. Can't even steal actual food where they ended up. >.>

One character ended up with food in his starting spot. I just started him about an hour ago, and set him on a 5 hr timer to get said food. xD

The FAQ are nice for finding answers fast, but it doesn't really bother me if new people ask questions on the forums. You can't really feel like part of the community just from reading the FAQs, but getting involved with the forums is an important part of the game (in my opinion, anyway) and asking those questions is a great way for new people to start to get to know people.

In any case, welcome to Cantr, JM. I'm masterekat, or just ekat if you'd like.
