Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
If it doesn't die when put under water, I won't eat it. I like the smell of lobster but can't stand the taste and texture.
@Alladinsane - salt is not acidic. It's a dehydrant - sequestering water needed for cells to grow. That's how it preserves meat. I just don't know if there's enough on raw bacon to prevent bacterial growth, and of course, if the bacon is contaminated with pig feces at the factory, there's be enough there to get you sick without the meat actually spoiling.

Thanks for the education Doug, thats why I said I wasn't sure (or 'I think" etc.) and in no way was I advocating eating raw bacon, the layer of fat on it is a wonderful breeding ground for little bacteria orgies...just look at them, doing all that stuff that all of us who have been married 20+ yrs find disgusting. I say they need to fry! Ummm...where was I?
Its better to cook it for sure,E. coli is no joke and if you already have a weak constitution, thats a nasty, nasty threat.
Working in restaurants, especially high end ones, I got to try alot of exotic foods. Snails, snakes, rabbit, puffer fish, Ostrich, stange vegetables, regional delicacies, etc. Even though some of it was a bit intimidating at first, I am glad I had the opportunity before exiting the biz. There are things out there that you would absolutely love, but its very possible that you wouldn't have even heard of them. Its not the career choice I would recommend for most, but it does have its bene's, I ate all of those things and more and most of the time, completely free.
but I love the 'doesn't die underwater' comment! Can I have your permission to use it?
Be well

Do couples have any sex at all after 20 years? I'm going on 15 and we've already descended into gonadal apathy (two kids will do that). Hell, even my oldest married character in Cantr barely has a physical relationship with their spouse anymore (going on about 40 years there).

You mean splitting up and going separate ways?

About the fish antipathy... maybe people would be more in favour of seafood if they'd get fresh stuff for a change. I've my problems with the so called "fresh" fish that's been rotting on ice for days, too, although I usually like anything with gills.

Y'all know that my dad plays Cantr, right? Not to mention he's on the forums.
I love fish.
Fish are delicious.
TotD: Many of you know I'm in the marching band on piccolo flute, if you've been stalking me on the forums. No, I promise you this is not one of those five-paragraph rants on how the world dislikes band and would like to do away with us.
Anyways, our high school had its jambouree(sp?) football game tonight. Or, rather, it was supposed to. But anyways. Anticipating the game and the fact that we weren't marching this gig and just playing stand tunes, I went to ask one of my friends if I could borrow her (really nice and shiny!) piccolo since mine is totalled from marching in the rain all last year, and she wasn't going to make it to the game anyway. She obliged my request and thus provided me with her piccolo, which I took home to practice on. So several hours later I'm back at the school for the game, and we're up in the stands, and it starts raining. I stood there freaking out because I didn't want to ruin her instrument, and meanwhile this is what was going through my mind: "New shiny piccolos must hate me. Every time I have one outside with one, it rains."
The weather got worse, so everyone was eventually escorted indoors, and I was able to keep my friend's piccolo shiny and working. But hey, we won! We scored a safety about three minutes into the game, but that's still winning, right?

How can anybody hate fish?? I grew up bringing raw and/or salted salmon to lunch with me. While other kids ate PB&J, I happily had salted salmon on rye.
Sure freaked the other kids out, though.

Never was big on rye. Not too keen on salmon, either, though I love it in maple and teriyaki sauce. I've even had it wrapped in bacon with maple glaze on it. That was delicious.
Salmon also happens to be my second-favourite piece of sushi as far as fin fish go; it is second only to tuna.

Umm...things don't usually get alot better in the frequency Doug, or maybe its just me. You find better things to do with your time I guess. Its different from the early year(s) where that is the thing you want to do all of the time.
Pretty much after around yr 10 or so, we began amusing ourselves by finding creative new ways to annoy each other. Oh the possibilities are endless! Then, annoying the kids is a great pastime where we can work together, so if the solo route gets stale, you always have that possibility. Other than that, we are like two boxers in between rounds, we each have our corner.
I think you know you can truly love someone when its okay if you are spending time together and neither of you is talking and it still feels right. You know each other well enough that body language, or lack thereof, says as many things as vocalization. I congratulate you on 15yrs and even though the sex may (or may not!) decrease, it really can and does get better when you know its the right one.
Darn, that sounds too optimistic for a Rant thread!
I gotta rescue this: Ummm....downtime stinks!

Well, you see, the way I just described above is about the only way I really like bacon, other than crispy with the maple flavouring stuff and no smokiness. Uhm. ^_^';

I know I'm gunna regret this....but:
Men and women are different and so are their needs and small children and babies ARE exhausting, And I honestly was REALLY tired. Plus all the physical demands on my body, little clingons and constant demand for affection might have made me not want to be touched as often as before. (Read for go away and leave me alone). But they grow up and become a little more independant and I have energy again and low and behold, there is a man in my bed and gosh he suddenly looks very attractive and desirable......
Besides through it all and whatever else came he was and is by best friend.
Rant:
I've got to clean the house! Uggg! I hate housework.

They really have that stuff available over there? Usually if I describe raw salted salmon on a sandwich to non-Finns, people are all "eww!" I've also heard that American rye bread is much milder and lighter in color than the Nordic variety.
