Re: Sex!
I think the majority of players would be willing to do a fade to black sort of thing or have their chars in a loving/committed relationship without more than the occasional RPed hug. Like Echoman said, an OOC message should be enough to give the other player a heads up. If the player doesn't heed that, I'd be seriously concerned about their intentions for playing the game in the first place.

Re: Sex!
Fading to black in something too sadly rare on the intarwebs.
My romantically inclined characters have teased a bit, but when it comes right down to the "gritty details" I've done something like mention an OOC message "no details needed," and just ended the actual RP with "Pulls her into an embrace, kissing passionately and... " There's a lot that can be hidden in an ellipsis.

Re: Sex!
I started my second time around swearing that I wouldn't get into it, but my characters are who my characters are, and I can't constrain who they are. I don't like graphic writing, as it's entirely unnecessary, but erotic writing is fine. You can finish off to climax without gory details. I thought I'd fade to black, but without OOC agreement as to what happened, it would be like a hole in my character's life (and the LAST thing I want to do is discuss our character's sex lives with the other player). An integral part of intimacy is mutual sharing of an experience. If my characters need that intimacy, fading to black is counter to that. Although, I would of course always defer to the other player's wishes.

Re: Sex!
Someone just asked me in a PM what is the difference between erotic and graphic. I think I'll post my answer here as well:
It comes down to necessity. What minimal details are necessary to convey the intimacy of the act? Because, for the characters, it's all about the intimacy. Any details beyond the conveyance of intimacy are for the player's benefit (in a perverted way), and I'd question the maturity of the player.

Re: Sex!
It depends on which details you're playing out, and the language you use to describe it.
So you're saying sex in Cantr is just cybersex?

I agree.
There is no rule that says I can't post as much I want. I asked my lawyer.

It really depends on what the players want. If they want to write a romantic story, too many sexual details might be unnecessary for or even detrimental to their enjoyment. If they (both) happen to enjoy reading porn (or whatever you may call it) I see no harm if they go into the sticky details. Depending on your definition of it, this doesn't have to be the same as cybersex (you might enjoy reading the description of your chars bumping uglies, regardless of whether you'd be interested in your co-writer personally), but even if it's a personal thing between players, it's entirely OK for me if they can handle it.

Re: Sex!
I agree. Its the characters having sex. Then again, I (player) could get aroused by it, because its good. I've also been totally turned off by it because it was bad. I think it has a lot to do about how much you discern yourself from your cahracter (as previously stated).

Re: Sex!
Of course good sex rp won't leave me cold (not aroused though) . Though these days that hardly happens. Maybe because most of my chars now are together with someone who sleeps often. Also my oldest char never had sex, though multiple offers but he never wanted to.

Re: Sex!
I started off just kind of going along with the other person concerning detail until some cringe-worthy situations. I wasn't really sure what was normal in the game at first but now I'm not letting any of my uninvolved chars get into sexual relationships and all my previously involved chars are either falling asleep before sex, doing fades, or running away. It's OOC but I don't care, it's either that or quit. This is what makes me sick:
-char that does a total 180 for sex, sweet and gentle otherwise but suddenly becomes a cruel, demented sexual deviant for love scenes.
-char that uses "you" in an emote... like *he somethings your something and you like it so much you something* I almost hit unsubscribe.
-char that doesn't normally emote more than an occasional *nod* but whips out a graphic 18 line emote for sex.
-char who emotes in such a painfully awkward way that I can't think of a reply. *touches his privates* Err....
*edit* -how could I forget... the PLAYER who freaking ignores an OOC message to not be so graphic.
So right now, all of my chars are nonsexual except one female that's in a committed relationship and their non graphic love scenes don't make me flinch when I see her char light up. I don't want to keep messing up my chars over my OOC discomfort and distrust of the other player's maturity but I don't know what else to do except post a long OOC message with ground rules before any of them have sex again. I guess I should work on a draft of that...

Re: Sex!
As bad as it is, being only fifteen IRL, one of my characters has come close twice, with the same man. As a player, it was a bit (okay, maybe a lot) uncomfortable, but for the sake of roleplay, my char was aroused, especially since she's madly in love with him. I've spoken to the player already about this, though.
Another one of my chars has been hit on by another guy, but he went on to cheat before she had even said anything about it. Been single ever since. He, meanwhile, is inside someone's house, sleeping to death, or so I last heard, far longer than four days ago.
The rest of my chars aren't even interested in the concept of sex.
