Thought: most of my professors seem fun and the one who doesn't at least teaches an interesting course that allows for discussion I'm actually interested in. I approve. I firmly believe that one of them is a dinosaur who will be teaching me how to dress a naked barbie, mostly because that's what he lectured about and I dutifully copied it into my notebook.

Rant: I seem to have forgotten how to sleep. I haven't slept since Monday night and I'm alternating between really loopy and fairly coherent. I don't really trust myself to RP right now so I'm trying to stay away from my Cantr characters and I feel a bit guilty.

SO I don't know if I'm allowed to say things like "I work at Wendy's (instead of I work at [blank])" but I work at Wendy's and the food is fine and I get a discount or whatever and the dishwater gives me a rash on my arms even though I TOLD them I have excema and needed gloves but no but the worst thing about Wendy's is the godawful MUSIC. Okay, for maybe 15 minutes music from the 50's (and inexplicably the 80's as well) is tolerable but for a 7 hour shift while I have to hear these idiots whine about how "Footloose" they are 15 times a day and listen to the Muzak sing about their "Buttercup" and how the only way you can tell if a guy loves you--and I mean the ONLY way--is by his kiss and I just want to punch myself in the face over and over until I don't wake up because it doesn't stop when I leave, no, that bullshit gets stuck in my head allllll day and night until I have an awful mismash of them all in my head and I want to cry.
They can't even play good 80's music like Thriller or something I mean damn.

Yeah, I remember when I was working 6-7 hour shifts in a hamburger joint over a weekend and they had the same damn soundtrack playing over and over again, with the same commercials repeating. The customers wouldn't notice since they didn't stay that long, but for a worker stuck there for 6-7 hours, you learn to remember what comes next. If music is bad, try faux-perky commercials... Also my hair turned temporarily curly from all the steam. That was a weird experience.

You pretty much don't want to eat at any fast food restaurant ever, then. Sure, the training videos are really big on safety protocols and stuff, but 50% of the time we skimp on it. Changing gloves, washing hands...it all gets left behind foe "efficiency". I'm expected to build a sandwich in 7 seconds. Do you know how many things are on a Triple Bacon Deluxe? I'll tell you. I have to spread the mayonnaise, spread the catsup, put the pickles on (only 4! Never more unless the customer specifically ASKS. No matter how tiny the pickles are) The onions (4 of what usually ends up being tiny strings around the edges--BUT ONLY 4!) the right size and amount of tomato (one big or two little) and lettuce (just barely enough to cover the rest up, even if it's just shreds). That's only the top. I'll spare you the rest. But that's half a burger...in less than 7 seconds. And that's only one burger, and an order usually consists of several. I hate it. I really do.

I could not handle food service. It's hard work waiting tables, preparing food, etc and it's beyond my abilities. Not to mention having to be nice no matter how the customer behaves. It always amazes me when someone is rude to the people handling their food.

The customer isn't the issue. They're brainless nits that are easy to deal with--brainless only because they view you as a 2d object they must interact with in order to receive their food. And restaurants are better than fast food, because quality over quantity/speed is stressed. I've BEEN the customer, so I like to try and give the customer a nice burger. Then I get yelled at for adding an extra pickle because the tiny pickles that were in the pan barely covered half the patty.

Anyhow, maybe people spat on my food. But as long it's only saliva, it's just as bad as kissing a random person.

It's actually super hard to get away with spitting on someone's food, if it's even possible at all. You may not realize this (I didn't, till I started working there), but from the dining room, you can pretty much see where they make your sandwiches and fries, and something like spitting is going to be really obvious. You should be more worried about chemicals on your burger. (At least where I work, the front sandwich person also doubles on dish when it's slow, and if we take a pan back there to rinse, we usually don't change gloves. The same sprayer handle you touch after you handle the raw bacon or degreaser. And you can't wash the handle of the sprayer...)
Also, at least once I've found raw bacon in the lettuce at the end of the night, at the bottom, and the manager just told me to take off the piece of lettuce it was directly sitting on.
I mean, technically, you eat way nastier stuff when you sleep (cockroach crunch, anyone?) and it's not that big a deal. But the training videos lie to the damn trainees and then we get yelled at for being trained wrong--'cause it's our fault?
