Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
I'm supposed to be switching back to a diurnal schedule because school starts the day after tomorrow (which I suppose is now technically tomorrow), but instead I had an impulse and ran with it. Hacked off all my hair, which was enough to completely fill a plastic grocery bag. Now I'm rockin' a fro and will have to beg my mommy to even it out for me, but it beats having to straighten it. I also had to fight off the effects of the drugs I took to help me sleep to accomplish this, but I think they're trying to kick in again. I'm very reluctant to let go of being nocturnal, so I'm rambling here instead of going to bed.
Thought: worst mute character ever.
'Nother thought: I don't think any semester can top the one I just had, but I hope this one won't be too bad. I firmly believe that things can only go downhill from here because of the awesomeness that was the past semester.
This has been stuck in my head all day for no apparent reason.

RotD: I can't wait until the voting is over.
I. Hate. Political. Calls.
"Vote for Buddy Atkins, the TRUE conservative!"
"Please support my good conservative friend Bill McCollum."
"Hi. I'm Rick Scott. Please vote for me."
That's pretty much all it is.
LEAVE US ALONE. WE'LL VOTE FOR WHO WE VOTE FOR. STOP CALLING US.
*claws off ears and pours bleach in eyes*
Just answer: I consequently refuse to vote for anyone who calls me about it. So you're screwed.

If that spreads around, this would only lead to people calling for the candidate of the other party.

They really can't listen to your answer because its a recording.
I guess the only place that the answer can be heard loud and clear is in the ballot box.
Guess where I'm headed today!
Be well

*makes a hand sign that makes everybody understand him as perfectly as if he had expressed himself verbally*? I think people playing disabled characters of any type should just leave the interpretations to the reader and let them figure it out, leaving room for misunderstandings. Things like hunger are pretty easy to express without spelling it out, while more abstract things would not be instantly obvious to the watcher.

Yeah. I'm not sure what the point of playing a mute character is if the player isn't going to put at least a little effort into it. Otherwise, why bother? Leaving room for misunderstandings would allow for some more interesting roleplay.

Snickiedoo,
I'm not a band hater. I admired both the band and the choir (and especially the school's barbershop quartet -- they were AWESOME!), because I have no talent in the musical department. Conversely, I had zero interest in sports (although I was the Middle School girl's basketball team's statistician (in case I haven't made it clear, I am a male-type human). HATED that buzzer! Gave me a headache). My extracurriculars ran to the academic side -- Mathletes (#7 in the state two years i a row!), "computer bums" (in the days before PCs. Or system had 12K of memory. (yes, that's a K), Dungeons and & Dragons. We didn't really have cliques at our school (or, if we did, I was too socially inept to recognize that fact). (I did get beat up in Middle School by a kid that I eventually got expelled, but it wasn't because of any cliquey thing).
So, you go, girl!

My first PC had two 5" floppy drives, no hard disc, and ran at 4 MHz speed. Can't remember what kind of memory it had.

And I was vividly into (A)D&D at the time as well.

Um, maybe, but I don't count the commodore 64 as a PC.

The first games I played were on other people's Apple II/c and Commodore 64. The first computer my family owned had a 486Mhz processor, a 5" drive and a 3" drive. I still use my MSDOS skills to troubleshoot problems in Windows. I rabidly made illegal software copies, having figured out that copyright protection consisted of making files invisible, which is easily overcome using dir/h to find them and the -h command to make them visible. All before the internet using skills I learned in computer class. As a kid, I had no sense that things that didn't physically exist could be real, so I had no guilt about such things.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
When begin interest me for computers, my government (Brazil), in one of the most unfortunate managements than we already had, resolved to institute protected market in hardware!!! We were prohibited of import the architecture IBM PC (or any another one). And some factories received incentives for will manufacture machines under its own architectures!!! There were two options: buy expensive machines, of doubtful quality and with limited use on the basis of software holders... or smuggle pieces (boards, components) and softwares (OS and software) of our neighboring country for we will mount for ourselves our IBM PC. Like this, before of we will want to be hackers (in all sense), we had that become traffickers (or deal with them). We lose some ten years in this run... but we amuse ourselves very!
Cantr II is a social simulator. What is not working is due a problem in the society.
Cantr is like Vegas - what happens in the game should be in the game.

nateflory wrote:PS: any PHP gurus want to PM me to brainstorm a question I had?
trying to write a little function that scrambles a text string into words, but each word is changed, bot not quite randomly.
Anyone playing FTO, essentially, change text to baby-speak, sorta, but keep the actual number of words&letters the same, but jumble each word semi-randomly.
Anyone playing World of Warcraft, pretty much exactly like the Horde<->Alliance chat translation works.
Surely that has nothing to do with PHP specifically, and is more a general question about the algorithm that you want to implement in PHP (which would be a relatively trivial matter, probably)?
I suppose the most important question is whether you want it to be deterministic or non-deterministic.

gejyspa is on my good list.

It makes me so sad when I see that the Cantr server is down, especially since it's down at the only time of day I can really get on (other than at four, five in the morning EDT) and look semi-active.
