It would seem to me that both of these incidences could easily involve the playing of a role in the game? Granted, they would require some contextualisation... for instance, if you play a self harmer, it would need to continue or be otherwise dealt with.... but legitimate nonetheless... No?

When you see the exact same behaviour in different towns with only a couple of days in between, you know theres a wanna be murderer who is just going to kill off anyone not much stronger and at least skillful fighter a.s.a.p.

Shouldn't you always start your posts with "I'm curious..." though? ;)

I have seen many specific cases of newspawns saying that they don't know what their name is, and I expect to see more. Yes, I specifically called it RP in my post - but it's annoying RP. If someone does it for a few minutes and then comes up with a name, that is OK. But most people who spawn nameless refuse to pick a name for days or longer. It's not original, it's been done hundreds of times, and it makes more difficult the OOC task of assigning names dynamically to avoid confusion.

My characters just make up ridiculous, sometimes insulting names for the "nameless", and call them that.

They pick a proper name quickly enough.

I take your point... but have seen it done well... and also managed well by the characters assigning a 'nick'. Although, as you also point out, it did not seem the intention just to be difficult, and was resolved both quickly and in an entertaining way.
I am no expert, and learning, but it seemed good role play to me.

... and yes... I am 'curious' (Just as an aside... I deliberated quite hard, as to just how to start that post)

The multiple newspawn hands on sexual predators that seem to be popping up. It's annoying, and irritating. Not to mention it's quite clearly the same player and your characters are supposed to be unique. Not 15 characters who spawn, ask the first girl they see if they've got a boyfriend then start (uninvited) putting your hands on and under clothing. One character, you want to be ass go for it....multiple characters over and over the same exact rp, and wording. It gets old.

That is creepy. I wouldn't want to know that person in real life that's for sure.

Mute characters with descriptions of removed tongues suddenly able to miraculously speak without it. Quite irritating and annoying.

I once saw someone rp ripping or cutting his own tongue off and even though he consistently rp'ed not being able to speak after that, everybody was just ignoring him because I guess everyone figured that he'd stop doing it once he got bored with it. I didn't stay there for very long so I don't know what happened to him but it's unrealistic that someone could cut off their own tongue, at least in a single attempt.

Oh, what irritates me is people who ignore my characters. Even if their characters didn't care about mine, they could at least make a point of rp'ing to look away, just like in FTO when my character was being fussy and it wasn't proper behavior for a follower of Maern, people still acknowledged her in rp even though no one approached her. But Cantr is not so much about rp, since there is no alert icon, people can just go about pretending to be offline so they could avoid actually reacting to stuff. Or maybe their characters really are blocks of wood that feel nothing.

Edit: I wouldn't mind getting my characters mentioned here if I won't qualify for rp praise. I just want to be noticed.

What are the details of the situation? I ask because one of my chars knows someone who did that.
I mean, it might be okay if it's garbled and practically impossible to understand, but if it's perfect speech then it'd be irritating. I can understand that.

I admit, I will do the pretend-to-be-offline in one town while having a serious rp-fest in another, but it depends on the circumstances. If I am in a particularly bad situation, then I might take some offline-from-that-town-only to possibly think about a halfway decent response that fits the character, or just wait until the conversation digresses and then join back in (which looks bad on my part as a roleplayer since that doesn't happen in real life).

As for mentioning people on the rp praise board, I'm nearly terrified (slight overstatement…okay, maybe a big overstatement) to do that because, other than Snick (who is obvious thanks to my obsession over the black cat that is my avatar), I don't want certain people to know who I roleplay, and naming people my chars know gives hints as to who I -might- roleplay.

Anyway....people that irritate me especially are the ones who use chatspeak or pretty close to it in character. I mean, really. How much time and energy are you saving by putting "btw ur so cute lol i luv u :) " versus, "By the way, you're so cute. *laughs a little* I love you. *smiles*" ?
(Okay, that hasn't happened to me, but still.)
What also irritates me is when it appears that the player either can't or doesn't use their backspace button. (Has happened to me.)

Okay… I'm done rambling for now.

-sits on the couch typing this and pretends it's not an emote by using hyphens instead of asterisks (although I actually prefer hyphens to asterisks)-

There's a char kind of like that in Dom Hofran. The only thing he emotes really is *his face was expressionless*.
Although not too long ago I managed to make him express irritation and turn away. :D

I recently saw *looks down at his work and doesn't say anything*. I'm just curious to why my character noticed that all of a sudden, that's the normal posture of the character in question. :)

I think the last thing, if used during a conversation, was more directed at the player than a character - letting know that the char won't respond because he/she decided not to rather than because of being asleep.
Or just letting the players around you know that you're online...?
