Upgrades

Postby Armulus Satchula » Thu Aug 05, 2004 1:46 am

This idea is something that is in many games. Upgrades. Some items, i think, should have the ability to be upgrades. For examples sake the bow. Adding iron and more wood to the bow should allow it to be upgraded. Since in real life when upgrading things of that nature you would have to tear a bit apart which would take time. Then add in what you want to upgrade. This is where i think the time factor should be for upgrading. I think it should take 75% of the origional time to contruct the newly made weapon.

Another idea evolved from this. This would be dismantling things for a los of usable resources. Like turning a Trowel back into iron, because the town has too many trowels. Allowing it to be dismantled for something more useful for the town.

This idea has been presented before--but yes, I agree.

Deconstruction of items is being planned on.

Hey, where does one go to beg the PD to stop a project that's had stuff added to it? I did something stupid and I need it undone.

You can try posting in General Support, but being stupid usually isn't enough of a reason for them to act. Have a better reason.

Well... it turns out that I can get around the problem, so I'll withdraw my "neediness." :oops:

But, it's annoying to not be able to undo a mistake, which can be made easily when it's early in the morning and I haven't had my caffeine yet.

Seriously... I really did look like this little dude when I realized what I had done:

:shock:

Anyways, my eyes are now open, and I support a "project recovery" command, 100%, asap.

...aaaand to get this topic back on track... I fully support dismantling of tools to be turned back into raw resources, albeit this should require some type of machinery or method.

There... topic fixed.

So we have the Kite shield. We also have Diamond encrusted steel sabre. But we could have much more!

The goal here is to:

1. Make people use some old rubish primitive things
e.g. bone spear + steel spear head -> steel spear
bone bagh-nakh -> bagh-nakh necklace ;)

2. Make some more diversity between items:
e.g. stone hammer + iron = reinforced stone hammer
reinforced stone hammer + gold -> gold incrusted stone hammer
gold incrusted stone hammer + gems etc. --> very expensive shiny stone hammer :)

Don't treat examples to seriously. That is just the general idea. I would like to see few levels of an item, and every level it's much more difficult to achive. Let Cantrians be proud of their belongings!

The problem here is that this would only work for a short duration. Bagh-nakh necklace would be made until the market is saturated and then they themselves would just be junk lying around. And bored newspawns would probably still make new bagh-nakhs.

If it's just the junk you want to get rid of, we can probably find a way to burn it or something.

Or stick it in some unused room in an abandoned building, and rot will take care of the junk for you over time, simply and already-implimented-ly. :lol:

we do have some upgrades available in game... sort of, where a usable item is also a componant in a suped up version of it
prime examples being iron shield -> kite shield
and scutum -> steel scutum
bone shield -> bone shield with feather :P

this can work for some other items, like how we have 2 programmed ways to make motor vehicles we can have for certain other objects like..... a compound bow can become a componant in another method for making a crossbow, a longbow to a composite recurve bow, etcetera
