Wars happen all the time in Cantr. If people actually bothered to learn about some of the towns I have chars in, they'd find there's a whole complex society just waiting to be understood.
I'm a player that actually encourages providing power to the newspawn though, and many players aren't, so I understand your pain. Maybe it comes from my American roots, but I'm all for equality, unlike many of my European/Australian class system counterparts. I think newspawns bring in new ideas and reinvigorate life into a town if you treat them right.
Certain backwards thinking people (the French, Germans, Australians, and some English) need to understand that a newspawn is not going to want to play in a town where they are stuck inside a building and forced to refine iron for you all day. Newspawns like to be outside and see the activity in towns, it gives them something to do and a sense of community.
So get to it everyone, quit complaining about how boring the game is and give newspawns a reason to want to join your community.
