I voted based on my past played chars. After killing them all off recently, Im just sticking to 4 active chars now, split evenly for genders.

I'm male...all of my characters (6?) are as well.

I am still trying to improve my role playing before I attempt to butcher (no semi-pun intended) a female. I am trying out unique habits and accents at the moment, then maybe I can move on to the more unique (in pure numbers at least) gender.

I'd recommend taking off the > sign except for the final answers on male/female.. makes it less confusing for many.

A better, less confusing way overall probably would have been: I play none, I play between none and half, I play half, I play between half and all, I play all. But hey. :)

Currently 1 male, 4 females - so 20% of the opposite sex.

I do few women, and I never would date with them... Unfortunately they have no charm. :(

Pretty even split: 7 male, 6 female. One of those males is on a course for death, so it will soon be 50/50.

Historically, among characters I gave the slightest crap about, 26% were female.

That's true.

And out of all the characters I've ever played there are a total of 29 male vs 41 female and 4 characters that I don't remember what they were. But also of the last 7 characters I created, they were all male. And I don't possess any females at this time. My females usually suck anyway.

I answered based on my career as well. I think I've managed about 50/50 over all my lot, and was always told that I could manage the portrayal of both rather well back in the day.

Most of my non-roleplaying friends find the idea of writing or playing a member of the opposite sex to be rather disturbing, for some reason, which amuses me.

I have 10 females and 5 males. As I was looking at this it occurred to me how much better off my male chars are that my female ones. What does this say about me as a woman?

No, the reason I didn't was, because then I'd have essentially two choices. If I left out the inequality sign, then someone who played exactly 1 out of 5 characters of the opposite sex would say, "Hey, am I supposed to put it in choice 2 or 3? They both say 20%.". If I said, say, 0-10/11-20/21-40, etc. Someone who played 2 out of 19 (10.526%) would say, "Hey, I can't put an answer anywhere". Since there is no good way to denote a half-open interval to non-mathematicians, I opted for the most obvious, yet still precise, way.

And now, let's look at some of the results at the current time...
For males, we have a spread of
39% with essentially only male chars,
17% for 10-20% female
17% for 20-40%
26% for 40-60%
and NONE in the over 60% female

For females, we have:
21% with only females
16% with 10-20% male
26% with 20-40%
21% with 40-60%
and 16% with over 60% male

So there's an interesting dichotomy. Women seem much more willing to play males than vice versa.. I wonder why that is?

IRL, you see women wearing pants far more often than men wearing skirts, don't you  And if a woman behaves in a slightly masculine way, she's one strong girl, thumbs up for her. Guys acting in feminine way would get Looks, in the best case.

What I'm trying to point out women have far less prejudices and far more practice in behaving like men than there is in the opposite case. And with more and more girls playing online games, especially of certain kind, the other meanings of MMORPG and GIRL are becoming outdated 8)
