The game has gone missing again. We're aware of it and investigating.

Ok, the server has been rebooted and is back online again. Please report anything out of the ordinary asap. Thanks.

Some process seems to have gone horribly wrong and killed off a ton of characters. Once we nail down what went wrong, we'll have to restore from backup. I have no time table for this, since the backup restore depends on Jos, and upon us finding the problem.

Just got the initial damage assessment from Jos, and it's really bad. I would not expect a quick fix. Sorry guys.

Just an update: Jos can't look at this in a serious way until Friday, and won't have any large blocks of time to devote to it until the 18th. Obviously, restoring/repairing the damage is only half of the problem; we also need to identify the exploited vulnerability and fix it, or this can happen all over again. I'll of course attempt to keep you updated here.

For those of you who lost characters due to this glitch, in the event that we do not restore from backup, we will need you to provide us with a list, as best as you can compile it, of your character's skills and possessions. We do not want you to send us this information now, just write it down now while it's fresh in your mind. If it is needed, we'll contact you.

Apparently, the hacker is now using support/players_at_cantr.net to fish for player passwords. The emails claim to be from me. Do not reply to these emails!

Cantr staff will never send you an email asking for your password. Never!

If you get one of these emails, and:

a) Knows how to view email headers: Send them to support, together with the headers

b) Don't know how to view email headers: Delete them.

Cantr staff has identified the source of recent problems (Cantr was not hacked, your passwords are not threatened, unless you sent them in response to the phishing email). No further damage should occur.

The recent killing of the characters in Doryiskom and a few other locations was performed by a member of staff, using staff tools that they had access to. This is highly embarrassing to us. Whether or not this could have been prevented in any way will probably never be known. The player has been banned from both the forum and the game.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you as a player.

Work is currently being done to restore the 54 characters killed, and also to enhance security and routines so that this will never happen again.

Thanks!

Can those of you who lost a character please contact support with the requested information? We're waiting on you for the most part. If you don't, your characters will be revived but something else will be done with their possessions (either left on the ground or given to another character to hold).

If you lost a character and didn't recieve an email from SekoETC/Support asking for information, make sure your ingame profile has a valid working email address, and then contact support.

We`re getting ready for the game to to be unlocked. Dynamic naming of people and locations can be added in at a later time. Death notices have been deleted, characters revived, skills replaced as best we can, and items returned if the players replied. Items of players that did not respond will remain on the ground. Thank you again for your patience.

The game is now open again. Sorry for the long downtime, but we felt we had to treat the "casualties" fair and restore them to the best possible state.

Please report anything odd in the game as soon as possible.

If you experience connection or performance problems today, it's due to some work we're doing on plugging some security holes. Thank you for your patience.
