Would it be possible to implement a non-obtrusive system to note when a character's description changes after you've viewed it, and would it be reasonable in terms of server resources used? It's not really reasonable to check every character's description every day, but if we had a system as described, you'd know when something was different so you could look. It would greatly expand the usability of the custom descriptions for common role-playing purposes.
I was hoping that since we already do this for the PD report, we could do it for the characters too.

That would be good. A small indicator could simply be placed next to the character's name to indicate an unread description.

I guess the problem would come in where you need to keep track of thousands of view records for each character. If that indeed is a deal breaker, I guess we could put it on a timer, where it stays lit for X minutes when changed. Could even have N colors, so if changed within X minutes of the last change, the notifier turns yet another color, up to N times.

I'm all for it as well.
Maybe it could stay lit for one day...?

Ideally, it would stay lit until your character looks at it (like events lighting on your character page). I suggested a timer in case this is either not possible or impractical.

I like it. I've noticed accidently several times when people have changed descriptions, for certain reasons...., and it's added value to RP. If we could be told automatically it'd be helpful.

Yeah, I was told at least once that I forgot to remove my "sleeping..." description while obviously up and around. Lucky for me the other character happened to be looking at me..

Re: Noting description changes.
I second this suggestion. Some of my chars change their descriptions, usually referring to wounds, or scars... any physical change. And I usually check on other chars descriptions as well. It would be great that something "alert" us about changes in other's descriptions. In RL you see those changes just looking at people.
