I'd rather have buildings need repairs. Sure, the rot on buildings would be massively slow, compared to tools and such, but at least you won't stumble across a town that's been abandoned for decades, all tools lying about crumbling, with sparkly new buildings like the day they were finished. Then again, it'd be cool if the buildings didn't disappear after rotting past crumbling, but became ruins, instead... :D

I want the same for ships and vehicles. With all those wooden carts and longboats in towns that no one uses anymore.

The problem is that build times in Cantr have been balanced against the fact certain things don't deteriorate. Most of Cantr's IG development is based on the use of resources/tools made by people who are now dead... if boats/clothing/buildings start rotting, there needs to be a big rethink of build times or the game will become even more of a chore than it was before.

However, that said, we need a way to "recycle" longboats. Seriously why can't I burn them to cook my food? :P

Well if you need to make clothing for yourself once in a while or buy it from someone else. Clothing resources should be able to be gotten a bit easier. Like more hide and wool being able to get from animals.

Also yes lets burn up longboats and wooden carts.

Of course I hate town leaders sleeping a lot. Who doesn't?

Pfft, longboats aren't THAT bad... the wooden carts are, tons of unused ones are cluttering almost every place with wood available, and people would still make more :|

Whilst that sounds good in principle, Arenti, you can't use it as a point in isolation. After all, the argument for fuel costs is that "it only takes so many days", but those days mount up pretty quick when you factor in building repair, new clothes, new tools, days pumping water and whatever things you may actually want to gain.

The surest way to kill people's ambitions and willingness to play is to make the game too slow and tedious. Far too many things in Cantr have been implemented without a full appreciation of the knock-on affects for the game overall.

Miri, the carts are simply the new longboats. Seriously, once you get iron... dump your longboat.

Because most leaders are greedy and want to keep everything themselves unless they can get something they need for it. Most other vehicles and ships are the same. Town doesn't need them and likely got access to them because of dead owners. And now they want the full price for it in trade.

Yes, how terrible that the town leaders want something in return, for giving away things they'll never see again. Or for trying to turn a profit for the town.

So what? The way around that is to punish them is it?

I disagree. If people want to hoard, let them. It's pretty true to real life... where's the issue? An active and polite newspawn can get whatever he wants in the right place... again, pretty similar to real life (in the western world, that is).

I get more frustrated with people who want to trade at tooled for mined rates, just because I have a mine. That's not how it works, sunshine.

The thing about longboats, carts, and now kayaks, is I have more than one char that need these to lock up things that they couldn't keep otherwise. There are still many places that you cant just wander yourself into iron to make locks.

If my had to replace clothes, most of my chars would go naked, there are many more things they consider more important. only one or two are vain about clothing.
