Thats what I'm saying - Theres no longer any in game motivation. Its all OOC. Every player wanting to start some trouble or stir things up to try and make things interesting.

Sure life is easy, as long as you stay out of BlackRock area.

Can you please stop saying every player.

But isn't that kinda where RP should come in anyway? I mean, surely creative people can come up with something to do in advanced towns, other than just fighting and thievery, right?

And even when a town wasn't built up, a lot of that "in game motivation" was pretty darned boring and routine... unless it was RP'd. Plenty of Cantrians don't do any RP at all while they spend years working because of in-game motivation. I'm not sure that's all that much better, either.

The majority could have if they wanted.

90% of my current characters (within 2 cantr years) have got more/better stuff than would be normal for the luckiest 40 year old when I first joined.

Newspawns get everything handed to them these days. Theres no need, and in most cases reason, to go about doing anything any more.

Get over yourselves guys! Life as a newspawn sucks in some places, others are amazing places and this has nothing to do with the degree of civilization. In some places the lack of things and available resources make it hard to aquire 'things'. But one of my chars is having a ball and another struggles. As for the big towns - same story. One could have what ever they wanted, but life is very interesting and full, with lots to strive for. Another was ignored and got up to all sorts of antics, to no avail. So, direction, opportunities and interaction with others all count to keep new players interested and playing. Stop griping and change it if it irks you. (in game) And be good to the newspawn! (no, that doesn't mean give them stuff)

Whether a new spawn does well in a town and get things is all depending on the new spawn him/her self. If you are actively involving yourself in the community in that town you are given things quickly yes. Of course it strongely depends where you spawn. If the leadership doesn't really encourage or cares for new spawns it doesn't matter how active you are. You will like just annoy them. Though that doesn't happen often I believe.

What does happen often is new spawns not involving themselves with the town. A good leader tries to involve them though that doesn't always work.

LOL.... That means the game was angry with Doug because he locked the game and so the game killed his chars.

I told you Cantr was alive!

We need to figure out how to ressurrect the killed characters, and sort out what to do with the piles of stuff on the ground. But yeah, hopefully a lot sooner than the 18th.

I never ignore a newspawn, if you speak I will always respond and am probably the first one to say hi and hand you something simple.

I try to ask questions as a newspawn, giving the other players something to answer, not just can I have a job or what do you do around here. Those are so so boring. Its not a job interview. Also the giddy girl that goes through all the men in two or three days drives me bonkers (and will likely get you killed in some places)

I work on things like trust, loyalty and the willingness to do things others dont want to. Wandering outside once a day for an hour to chat or make a comment on something you see happening lets the others know you are still playing and doing your crappy duty as the youngest. This goes a long way in any town I have any say so in.

I have 15 chars so they cant all be the sh*t, I keep the others for the day that some smuck comes along and kills a rather active one, at least I'm not scrambling with a newspawn that has nothing to start my next adventure. You would be surprised how many chars I have that were doing nothing to suddenly become something interesting just because someone wandered into town or someone died leaving them with more crap than chars Ive worked for years( I hold the biggest pile of XXXX because of a sudden death, but Im not telling you). Perfect example I had a personal guard that followed someone into town, a man walked out and spoke to her. I look forward to every post that person makes, and I watched him as another char not move for years and years. You almost never know who is behind that one soul that might just make your cantr life a bit more interesting :P

On the other hand my very first char was Occed to learn how to be a newspawn if It wanted to be taken seriously. You can imagine how I wondered how much more newspawn can I be, when I had only been playing for a day. :P

Just some personal thoughts, hope they help some.

If the programers that be, can figure out a way to give back all that those unfortunates lost, Fine. That's the way it should be. But if they can't and the game continues...my newspawns won't give it back willingly. At least some of them won't because they have already started running for their lives! Bwahahahah
On another note, as I read through these posts about newspawns getting all they want in no time at all, and older characters having to spend years to get to where they are now...and most english speaking islands advanced to where it is a boring life...I say: BRING US OUT OF THE STONE AGE! (In a manner of speaking)
Does anyone agree with me on, there needs to be a new age!?! Something more modern! I've read about more idea's on how to create and advance in the various topics on this board then...then...Argghhh.
If you can learn to read and write...you can educate yourself.

What I dont like is that as a char gets older( in alot of cases, not all, but a whole lot) they hold keys stunting the growth of town and wont share, dont bother to help out either, and mostly only speaking up enough to keep from dieing off. This comes from the fact that younger ( I dont mean newspawns but younger than so old my first piece was a dino so IM bored to death) wont force the hand of the older ones. If you dont want to play because you have nothing else to gain, take your share, travel,or give the keys up and watch what happens next. I hate hate hate when older people are protected even when they dont play. :( This is a human emotion that shouldnt stunt towns) Grrr!

Sadly if a char even brings this up they are likely to be killed while the others just pray the leader will wake up and lead again. They wake, pick up food ask a question and are gone for another 19 days. Its stupid.

I have no problem with Cantr being the way it is. Of course I want things implemented that will make you need to replace items and clothing after a certain time, And also with furniture and vehicles.
