We celebrate the calendar reaching arbitrary numbers in real life, why would it be any different in Cantr?

Agreed, look at the y2K celebration/panic that happened, which was not confined to "western civilizations", but all over the world. Some countries may have other calendars, but generally, we ALL use the same dating system. It's currently 2010. Regardless of what town you live in. :)

Or, if that can't be done, could someone put up a little textbox on the currently blank website which explains what's going on and when the expected date of return is? It'd take 2 seconds to write it, maybe 10m to upload it.. at least that way, the players who don't read the forums are informed and new players may return.

We can't register players without a database.

I have prettyfied the website a little bit now.

"The calendar" in Cantr is detached from any actual in-game events because it was come up with by the people making Cantr.

Day One is the actual beginning of recorded time which IS a very important in-game event.

There is a giant orange glowing set of numbers in the Cantr sky that everyone can see and that is why we use it for an ingame clock, calendar, point of reference. If we had to create our own calendar and keep track of what day it was, then I'd really have to rethink my gaming choices because calendar maker man does not seem very fun to me.

The "Never insult Cantr!" line, though funny, is OOC.

Damn lucky I didn't paste the banner in game then. ;)

Is it OOC, though? I mean, isn't "Cantr" sometimes considered the name of the "world" in-game??

I've heard several characters refer to the world as Cantr, and the people in it cantrians. Since there is nothing in game that says the world is named Cantr, it could be argued it's OOC info. I don't know. :)

True, also what about the towns with Cantr in it? I rather refer to chars in the game as cantrian than as human.

I was doing my RL job at the same time, so it's a little hard to say exacly. But I probably spent 15-20 minutes on it, getting the colours right, finding the graphics and the banner, and then upploading it twice (first version didn't have the banner) to both Cantr and my own test server.

Current time in game is:

2987-0.20:5

And it is not moving. Just so you know. :)

Now that I think on this, it makes more sense IC for chars to refer to themselves with whichever island or nation they belong, and I say island because there are relatively few republics, nations, etc. We don't refer to ourselves as earthlings in day-to-day speak. Most of my chars rely on their town as their identity, or their island if they travel abroad (which means some may call themselves cantrians if they are from Cantr Isle). I believe any reference I make IC to the world as a whole is simply "the world" or some variance of that.
