i have had several loud mouth characters, but the problem is when your character is forceful and difficult, the ego and jealousy of other players -not their characters- kicks in. in every town my difficult personalities have lived there will be one person who only wakes to troll my character, as if i had personally insulted him - it always ends in death, being dragged about, being kicked out of town. and yet, i also play characters who respect their elders and work hard, so why take it so personally, as if i'm the character im playing?

I don't have a big problem with loud mouth characters who are forceful and difficult. Though no personal insults or insulting other people in that town.

Almost all of chars have long term plans that improve things. I dont have one potato farmer :P I have ones that have made major changes in their areas, ones that will kill anything that gets in their way, others that wouldnt hurt a fly, and several that are married or have mates.

I don't have any potato farmers as well. And all my chars have a relationship. And none are criminals or even close to that.

I haven't got any crimals yet, but if theres no laws on the ground who is to say whats legal and whats not. Even if it means killing someone just because you want the stone pot they have....

Most of my guys do have plans and 5 or 6 are nicely placed for them in the future but its down to getting the right people around them at the right time.

To change anything though you either need 4 or 5 wakeful people to do stuff or years and years of time to get to the top of organisations.

How do you find the time to play so many characters? I hardly get time to play two characters properly. One has major plans for a bunch of towns. The other is bringing back a town to its past glory and has plans for expansion. But all the others are "potato farmers" and one is a traveler (I have only 12 chars).

But I do find that people do not challenge each other much. In all the towns I have been I would guess there are no more than two to three people who are interested in running even a town and wresting power from one another and in most cases it is just the town leader. In those few cases, instead of competing they just share the power. And as Cantr has so many towns each player can have at least one or two chars who are town leaders and the rest can be just potato farmers. I think Cantr would be more interesting if there were fewer towns and if the max character limit was reduced to something between 5 and 10.

Some of my chars are purposefully worker bees and followers for several reasons.* Besides, I'm not sure that I/my chars are charismatic enough to gather a following in order to create real change. I do better in support roles, but then it's a matter of your chars being in the right place at the right time.

I don't think violence is necessary to have conflict. But politics is a game many people, myself included, don't have the patience to play out and it requires even greater patience in Cantr. Going the violent route is generally quicker and more interesting. I had/have mouthy characters who can stir things up without violence, but it's very small scale stuff.

I have workers...kinda, none of them make food, but more important things. They build ect...I try to get the newspawns on 10 day projects unless they show huge progress in the beginning.

Well, even then, try and do something out of the blue, even if it doesn't make much sense? Like, instead of a town just sending out their own people, sponsor some local business or a capable character to start one and give him a few elevated rights (along with his workers I suppose) and tell them to get resources for your town?

Just.. :/ something not normal. More variety. Not neccesarily war or crime or anything like that. Plus, towns need to conflict with each other more. If you think some taxes are unfair, try and argue about it? Settle some diplomatic approach to evade taxes in some town for resources you need. Restrict any resource gathering to surrounding towns, especially vital ones and make people pay exorbitant prices for it.

Mock towns (calling them barbaric, whatever) that are different then yours. Like if you live in stone huts and they live in mud huts running around naked or whatever. Maybe they eat raw potatoes while you usually live off cooked meat and work in a commune or whatever. I don't know?

Right now I feel that almost all of my characters are helping play a part in their part of the world. Finding reliable people is the hardest, but I think in a couple places we are getting somewhere.

The characters of mine who had the personality/mentality/charisma to be world changing individuals, spawned in areas that were established and needed no help. They spawned in rigid places that quickly crushed their hopes of change mostly because of the people in charge who are content to sit around and count their fat resource piles.

Moving served little good, as they found no one who wished to be motivated enough to do anything. Most of the time what happened is they would move, and try to create a community service plan to actually help out some specific group ie: people seeking fuel, food where there is none etc...but it never worked without help. One person can say they want to help, but it takes more than one person to actually stir anything up. One person can be ignored, brushed off, and looked over...
