My personal rule of thumb is for every 25 or 30 years, age them 10. This is because Cantrianains don't have those first 20 years, in my brain.

Although seeing someone who is "very old" being as spring as a chicken is highly doubtful. I'll not argue that Cantr mechanics mean characters don't get weaker but they do age... so my brain says having them look like a 60-70 year old and stopping is 100% okay with me. Just remember that unless someone "dyes their hair" it WILL go gray.

Though I've one character who's pushing 40 but his childlike behaviors still prevent me from, personally, making him look to old. For the first 30 years of his life he looked like he was 17, so now I'm having him push the 25-ish mark... facial hair, etc.

I did do some chars descriptions of mine. I'm just not good in that and if I did all it would end up mostly the same. Though I do have a few good ones.
There is no rule that says I can't post as much I want. I asked my lawyer.

Another bizarre discovery. Having only started in May, I hadn't realized descriptions were such a new concept in Cantr. I'd've thought they were around from the very beginning of the game. I guess this also explains something else I've wondered about, namely why building (interiors) don't have descriptions. Descriptions of people, items, locations, etc. is such an integral part in every kind of text-based online game (for example MOO/MUD/MUSH/MUCK) that it is very surprising to me that it's fairly absent here....

I guess it might have something to do with things not having built-in ownership. In games like FTO, the person who started the project also has the right to describe it, but if they die then it's hard to determine who should inherit the right. If anybody was allowed to describe everything then it might lead to disagreements or trolling. Although if descriptions only appeared to everybody if enough people had voted to accept them, that might work. A person might describe a building or a location and others could vote either "I agree" or "That's not how it looks like". Later a challenging description could be suggested if somebody for example wanted to add details or fix typos. The language argument was for a long while what held custom descriptions back, but if people were allowed to write them in several languages then it would also work on multi-lingual areas.

Also, one might argue that buildings are only rectangular blocks since nothing else is mentioned, and for example including windows would be a CRB since you can't see outside or crawl in through them, and the project didn't include any material suitable for making windows, and how about doors then? Either stone buildings have doors made of stone that are somehow magically opened without hinges, or then they don't really have a door until you make a lock and assume the 200 grams of iron also covers for the door.

It's indeed problematic to assign descriptions to buildings retroactively, but I guess it should be not much of a problem to introduce it for new buildings. Maybe we could have a 'renovate' option to change a buildings description (taking about half the time of building a new building and no materials.) If a description would turn out to be inappropriate or implausible, it could be reported to PD like a personal description.

The kind of descriptions I have in mind would, just like personal descriptions, have to be CR-compliant. But a bit of personalization to make one place stand out from another wouldn't be hard. Shape of room , shape and placement of windows, color of the walls, or drawings applied thereon, etc., as long as they are integral parts of the room, rather than objects therein (although there again, the building description might contained WHERE in the room objects that are there are placed, and how arranged, as long as those objects are truly there.) *shrug* I dunno.. just a thought.. take it or leave it.

Just in terms of age:

My grandfather at 40 still looked younger than 21, I've seen pictures and this is totally the truth. It wasn't until he got an illness around 45 that he started looking more his age. So I think it is possible (and have to say even now in his 70s he looks like he is more in his 50s so I've seen it in action) to look much younger than your age, but you aren't going to look 20 at 70 no matter who you are.
