Knock out
I dunno if this has already been suggested, but how bout instead of doing damage when you only use you fists, instead you make them lose some kind of stamina or something so that you could knock them out. Of course it probably could only be instituted if you could sleep or something, but it would be cool to knock people out.

I think that would be better and instead of killing petty criminals that flee by the road before being dragged, they could be knocked out and end up back in the area they left. Also perhaps if they get knocked out they should lose their inventory. Everything they had would be on the ground. A cool way for criminals to not kill their victims.

yeah...that would be cool....although it couldn't be too easy....maybe something like, if an endurance bar was added that depleted as you moved or worked, and when it reached 0 you had to sleep (someone elses idea) and punching would decrease it faster, and instead of causing them to drop everything, it could just give you the option to see what they had, or take it....

I like the idea of 2 bars, or percentage levels anyway, but what if punching or hitting with blunt objects such as clubs caused a small amount of damage to health and large amount of damage to stamina. For example, a punch would cause 10% health damage and 40% stamia damage. However people can still be beaten in their sleep but could not fight back.

...yes...randomness is very much needed...but the new steel change has even further unbalanced the new islands...until someone figures out how to make steel, which will take even longer now, anyone with an iron shield is completly invincible...steel weapons are the only thing that keeps the combat system in any kind of balance as it is set up. Hitting and damage really need to be random.

and at any level a 5% chance for hurting yourself and a 5% chance of hitting even the normally unstoppable.
Yes, there are several ways it could be done, I'm not really picky about the way it's implemented, but something really needs done, out of all the weapons in the game only two (requiring steel) can hurt someone with an iron shield.
