Well, a native probably could tell you better, but the written standards differ about as much as spoken British and American English do.

It would probably also not be a problem to let people speak Ido in the Esperanto region.

i have no problem with the rule, i have a couple chars, used to be 3....... that were spawned pure english, and later as other languages started spawning and mixing in some of the old english lands, started to learn the languages, first a few words and phrases added a couple and in about a cantr year became 'fluent' though i myself am not. it's really no biggie.

It would help a lot, if this rule was mentioned anywhere, where one can find it ;-)
not everyone reads the forum and it is not in the english wiki part about the rules. And I don't know if it is easier to find for other language groups

It's mentioned right on the character creation page, and I believe it's even highlighted in the Spanish translation. If people can't be bothered to read two sentences on the character creation page, there's nothing we can do to make them read it anywhere else.

Most players fall in game without at least find out what it is. Oh! It's not Cantr Strike?
Cantr II is a social simulator. What is not working is due a problem in the society.
Cantr is like Vegas - what happens in the game should be in the game.

Thats funny as in my short time here the only examples of bi-lingual newspawns i've seen have all been Spanish/English - at least 4, probably a few more, all seem to be around the Eastern part of Cantr Island.

I do see it happen often also in many parts of the game. Though I for one do not have that much problems with new spawns speaking two languages.

That's why it was highlighted. Apparently, it hasn't helped.

Maybe thats because of new players?

It's because people can't be pissed to read or don't care.

I think most don't really read it. And only a few don't care. Of course I might be wrong. But you don't have to worry about me having a char who speaks two languages when spawned.

I have a char that lives in a town that is constantly getting polish newspawns, in fact so many that the town rarely gets english speaking ones. There is someone there that is causing this. No matter how many times they build a boat and leave, still more come. That town actually has to go and pick up random travelers to keep the town full. Dam shame since it is spoken of very often in the forums. My char left there was polish char left behind, he returned another had spawn...again. They just got rid of five. They are now offering to sail them instead of waiting for them to build a boat.

some chars of mine are highly accepting of othr languages and go out of thier way to help make things mroe welcoming for all languages and try to learn them.
other chars of mine either chase em away, ignore them or even deport them

forgot to mention i used to have a char that was so intolerant he even killed them on sight (zeus darwin), lucky buggers he died in his sleep. but still, be careful where you wander, there's always a fascist freak somewhere in game ;)
