Quicker transport between towns.
Yes, modes of transport right now are fairly fast. Oftentimes, with a stationcar a person can travel from one town to the next in one tick. But what if someone wants to travel to a town in 15 minutes and the tick isn't for 2 1/2 hours?
This directly hampers multi-town development. So I propose we create a new road addition of sorts to link towns, but rather than such movement being conditional on the movement tick, it instead takes like 15 minutes after the traveling has begun for the traveler to reach the desired location, regardless of when they left.
These roads will be expensive to build and maintain, but might be worth it for some well developed nations.

Uhm ....... No.... No.... NO!
This will mostly be helpful for killers and other criminals.
There is no rule that says I can't post as much I want. I asked my lawyer.

Pretty much exactly what I thought. Yugo wants us to deliver crime, faster and more convenient than ever.

Yes, the fact that the road will be expensive and required high maintenance certainly means it will help killers and other criminals.
If a town doesn't want to build it, they don't have to, and I doubt that there will be a whole internetwork of these types of high speed roads through a continent so it can't allow for that fast of a get away.
I'm just thinking more in terms of, ok, I wanna go to the next town to discuss trade and don't feel like sitting around on my radio all damn day for them to respond, screw it, I'll just take a quick ride there to see what they are up to and come back.

The radio, huh?
Well, I've been rather curious about it too. Mostly about why it can't be built outdoors.

This would pretty much be the case if/when Cantr moves to real-time processing, something that's been discussed and I believe accepted for a while now.

What Doug said; wait for real-time travel to be implemented and see how fast town travel is then. Generally speaking the time taken to traverse will decrease.

It was.. getting back into town happened a very short while before the game lockdown (just after I had made that post, basically). Now, of course, probably the player of every character who was there now knows who my character is, but I HAD to vent.... So, no, I am home, unless the DB is rolled back to before then.. I sure hope not, because it's ALREADY 2 hours of my life I won't be able to get back....
