I don't know... I had a charrie raped, pillaged, plundered and mutilated, all in a language she couldn't understand, before being killed. I'd rather have had no RP and a quick death...

notsure :?

What happened with one of my characters is that I got some other people to do the dirty work. My charrie just convinced them to do it; it made him feel better about doing the deed.

I'd be happy if someone said "This is why you're dying" and RP'd a swing. But honestly, I've had my oldest charri almost die, and it was well roleplayed, and made me cry(some Blackrocks would know about that). I also had one that was not drawn out roleplay besides someone yelling at my character and swinging, and I found it easier. Yes, I was angry, but I seem to handle something with just a reason and a swing, better than a few hour ordeal. Both of these characters were the same age, btw, it happened within two weeks of each other.

So there's my two cents.

EDIT: I thought it important to mention that I roleplay at least swinging if I think the swing will kill someone. You could always go with the (ooc: my character plans on killing yours, would you rather it be swift or drawn out) kinda deal, but ooc opens the door for harrassment with players angry they're dying.

That's a silly thing to say. If anything Cantr needs a couple magnitudes higher violence. Fist fights, wanton murder, etc. I can walk down the street and if I'm wearing the wrong color or look at a guy wron I'm pretty sure I could get pretty fucked up. Like in the hospital fucked up. That kind of violence is part of society, a huge part. I've never actually seen anything like this in Cantr. Society simulators have to show society not the wannabe civilizednes of cantr. I think the problem is over abundance. There's a saying, the world is 9 meals from anarchy. In real life the average household has enough food for 3 days. After that period things break down. Look at New Orleans. If any o us were put in the same situation we'd be just as cut throat.

Why is that a silly thing to say? How many % of the worlds population does get beaten up regularly? How many % of Cantrs? Imho it is too easy being violent in Cantr, and there is no punishment that will make the player hesitate about taking the risk of playing a criminal character, like there noramlly is in real life. IRL, you don't want to do 20 years for manslaughter, in Cantr you don't care if one of your chars die, if the fun of being a murderer was enough while it lasted.

There are a lot of things happening IRL that doesn't, and never will, happen in Cantr. so why is everyone (power-mongers) so hung up on the violence, which we will never get to have a reasonable IRL-looking risk/punishment scale for in game?

There is. In cantr steal some carrots and they lock you away and forget about you. In neighborhood where violence is prevalent irl they don't really put much effort into finding those responsible. And even if they did the only evidence are bruises, or for manslaughter bullets from a stolen gun etc. So I'd say there's a pretty decent crime and punishment representation.

I don't know where you live, but where I live there are not 1 in 20 that become a thief or murderer.

A newspawn stealing carrots is one thing, a murderer appearing in a van is another. Very hard to do anything about in Cantr.

So are rl murders. It's the way it is. You adapt and work together to survive. That's what society is about. Also I know for a fact that you can't live somwhere where 1 in 20 people hasn't commited some type of punishable offence. Evading taxes is a form of thievery too and alot of people do that. Hell more than 1 in 20 people are in possesion of narcotics in their lifetime. On the top of that marijuana is pretty harmless and then look at all the violence and shit that happens over that kind of thing. So let's say 50% of all people have posessed some type of illegal drug (a fairly low estimate I'd say) they've just, even if indirectly, caused some sort of violence in most cases.

Any newspawn who steals carrots should be loaded up in a Galleon with hundreds of other newspawn thieves and shipped off to Australia. *cough* I mean a new, unfounded continent.

I don't know if you choose not to get my point, or if you just don't get it anyways. IRL and Cantr are verydifferent when it comes to crime/murder becaus:
* The risk is nothing in Cantr, compared to IRL.
* IRL people have to work (and some will be police), in Cantr very few are active and work/act as police.
* In Cantr it's "fun" for the player to play a murdering character, IRL murder more than anything results in very hard punishment.
etc.

I don't know if you choose not to get mine, but outside of your presumably suburban home in large cities, developing countries, etc. people die because other people feel like it and they never get apprehended. People kill others for a variety of reasons and in a lot of places there aren't enough or there are no police to enforce things. Or the police get paid off.

Ok, there is no difference between Cantr and real life. You win.

That's not even a part of what I'm saying. I'm saying the violence rate needs to go up in Cantr.

Excuse me  Oh sure lets kill more chars and ruin the game for even more people.
There is no rule that says I can't post as much I want. I asked my lawyer.
