Why do people bother creating chars that are blind or mute/deaf? The majority* of these chars are either quickly ditched because they're too much work or the player gives in and the char miraculously starts speaking/seeing at some point. Bad Form.

*disclaimer: yes, I know there have been long-lived mutes, etc - I said "majority" not "all" of these types of chars.

Oh, and I had a bad day at work. Only because I'm doing my job and someone 20ish years older than me acted like she lost the prom queen title over it.

I get the feeling this may possibly be in reference to one of my characters..

I had/have a mute character, who was only mute because she was abused at spawn and never got a chance to speak or learn to be a normal human/cantrian. Every place she went was either attacked by armies, pirates or the leader was corrupt. Any friend she made got bored of her or had to leave.

So when an event came along that gave her the confidence and courage to take indirect revenge on evil people and thus those who hurt her, she did so, and was able to speak again because she had confidence and courage again.

It's not bad form for all characters who start talking, at all. Though for many who don't have a legitimate reason - then yes, I agree.

In hindsight, I probably would have ditched my character within the next 20 cantr years, it becomes more and more difficult having to explain it each time. (especially considering she was self-banished from about 4 to 8 different locations due to the events. Having to explain thru emotes every time is so very frustrating).




And what happened at work lol? What do you do???

I agree. 98 % on the not yours bit. But I have to say, for all you know that could have been their plan since spawning(So not bad form). And the person who plays them is better than most the people there at RPing, so really, what are you complaining about? Heh.

I sincerely hate all of the people here who still play Cantr. You guys are stereotypical in your response to events and will die because of it.

I could name several chars just off-hand who have undergone sudden changes in their abilities so I've no idea what chars any of you are talking about. I could probably come up with 10x that number of mute/deaf/blind chars who are left to the sleeping sickness after a few days of intense play. I do agree that a traumatic event could cause a "disabled" char to regain an ability (just as events can make them lose abilities), but all too often it happens out of the blue (or when the "disability" is inconvenient for the person to RP) and it seems suspicious to me.
