Do you get any points from a miss? Do you get any points from defence (that is, "you novicely defend 0 points of damage with your chitin shield" so the fighting skill was used, but did it increase?) Does hitting yourself give you points?

Whatever is brought to attention here should be added to http://wiki.cantr.net/index.php/Weapons_and_protection as well.

Looks like you do get points even if you miss, but the defender doesn't get anything. You do get points from hitting yourself, but if you also got points from defense, you would get double from hitting yourself and you can't really surprise yourself, so I don't think training with yourself should equal training with someone else. Still, with the insignificant numbers we have, if it was any less then it would practically be zero.

I think defenders should get points to but not when it's against yourself. I'm not programmer but there has to be an easy script to detect that...
Maybe only strength one-way when it's against yourself... But if someone hits me and I defend, I learn...

Ok, related question, since this topic is about both fighting and dragging. Does holding a bunch of weight in your inventory make you harder to be dragged? Does high strength? Does fighting skill?

I know strength helps you drag stuff, and holding less inventory weight does too, but I am more interested in defense against dragging.

Less inventory weight doesn't help you drag stuff (other than being able to pick up some stuff and have less to drag on the ground). Nor does more help defend you against being dragged. At least not the last I knew.

Actually, holding stuff -DOES- help make it harder to be dragged but does nothing to help you drag, neither does holding nothing. It also helps to weigh down walking thieves. Or Even vehicles if you have enough useless stuff, but when they're in a vehicle, they can just pass it back.

I am 90% positive that your inventory weight has nothing to do with the difficulty of a drag. Can someone check the code to put this controversy to rest?

As far as I know, carried weight only affects your speed on roads. It is strength and fighting skills (combined) that determine how easily you are dragged or how much you are able to drag - regardless of what's in your inventory.

I'm still curious how skills other than fighting, hunting and strength are increased....

Not MY inventory, -theirs-. If a person is weighed down by 15000g of carryable weight, it makes them weigh 75,000g instead of 60,000. That's what I think...

It does not. It is like SumBum said- skill and strength determines dragability and inventory just affects travel speed.

This is proven easily enough in game. Try to drag some still-spawn, then load him up with crap and try again. The drag % shouldn't change if Hermi and I are correct.

I did tests on it earlier in-game and if there was a difference, it would be only one or two percent. It's more likely that it uses a standard weight for people and doesn't take inventory into account.
