Yeah but if you plan mass-theft from surrounding towns, it's less easy to get away.

The docking behaviour is yet to be changed. Rafts will be able to dock to it and probably other kayaks, too. It does indeed come with a lock, but so does the raft (which can travel the seas, too, by the way and is not that expensive either).

The reason behind this implementation is not to give newspawns a quick start or getting rid of old bones, but to give people an option to build a boat that doesn't depend on wood. There are several islands and regions in the game world that don't have access to wood and those people are pretty much screwed until an outsider lands with a boat.

The Bone fur scraper has been renamed to Bone hide scraper. I think (not sure yet) that old Hide scrapers now do the same job.
