I have no strong feelings one way or the other on the original topic, but I second the proposal for stone shovels, at least if they could be used to improve paths to sandy paths.

EDIT: I suggest this because stone age civilizations need stuff to do. Letting us improve the roads for our small wooden carts would help us progress.

Stone shovel sounds clumsy and heavy. A wooden shovel might make more sense although they break easily (I had one as a child). Also some places might benefit from copper tools, although copper is not found on every island or region, but irl people used that before bronze was invented.

Before the industrial revolution wooden shovels were used almost exclusively in some place. I think I read that somewhere, might be out of context though.
