Animals left?

Postby Arenti » Thu Apr 08, 2010 10:49 am

Not all of them though. But everywhere I see more animals but in one town my oldest char (Arenti) Is in, most of the animals are gone. And to my char and to more, animals in that town play a big role.

I noticed that in one town as well. The number of pigeons went from over 70 to somewhere around 10 in a day or two.

70 is already a lot. But if you have a normal amount and suddenly go down a lot and all the wolves gone completely. And in towns that don't really need them or care about animals have a lot and then a town who does care about animals suddenly losing many of them.

The pigeons were out of control and culled.

In regards to any other anomalies - Jos recently changed how animal processing works, and there may be unintended side effects of this. It will be looked into when I get a chance.

Specifically, there seem to be some odd pooling effects. There are over 150 red tailed hawks in Mirovash right now. 20 is the soft-cap when overcrowding effects are supposed to kick in.

And 72 donkeys in Karnon Fields lol. And in another town a group of 19 wolves popped up. Now that will be hurting people.

It's worse. Just found a place with 111 wild boars. I'm going to try to get animal attacking shut off before someone gets killed.

 yes thats a wonderful idea. If those boars act up it could kill a char in one day.

i think this is not a bad thing, people have often toyed with the suggestion of matural disasters, randomly and periodically, now having a sudden temporary animal boom in some parts and a sudden extinction in others, is in my opinion a very realistic natural disaster.

Maybe so, but natural disasters should be thought out and planned. People losing characters to an indiscriminate bug would just suck, especially as we can't bring them back to life.

Haha, what would be great is if the bug caused each animal to attack individually....you wanna see natural disasters, how about animal Armageddon!!

For example...the town with 111 wild boars, imagine all 111 striking out at once...now imagine this happening everywhere!

Yes...my characters shall hide away inside until the threat of annihilation has passed

Yes, it seems that overcrowding effects are broken, so the animals are pooling as if they were under no restrictions. What you see is the world of animals governed by unrestricted simple probability. I do have to say, after seeing this, that my overcrowing effects worked exceedingly well.
