A GF will never understand what a big deal the following story is:

A traveling companion and I were exploring along a huge deserted, unexplored coastline by longboat... far from civilization... running low on food... going from location to location for years. One day we step off the boat and start to collect some resource at a deserted location. A new spawn pops up, hops in our boat, waves, and sails off.

I tried to explain how pissed I was, but it didn't translate,
Her - "yeah, I get it, someone took your boat"
Me - "no, they left me in the middle of no where. I don't have any wood, All my tools were on that boat. I've been traveling for IRL years. I would have locked the boat had I known our party of two would spawn a new character. Forget it"

I think you missed the "greasemonkey" thread. My cantr is grey and very discreet. :)

So...what happened with them?! (Or is this still ongoing?)

Yeah...I figure we might as well hijack the already hijacked thread....

Wow...That's a horror story right there, Bowser.

She should have been more understanding about your loss.

I don't talk to my wife about Cantr. It's safer that way.

(note: bold part is what matters) I have a character who was captured since spawning by Adam Brinks for ten years, had very generous help escaping, then for another ten years worked for someone in Shai Island, got lots of food and iron and steel for a raker from them, went a couple towns over for wood, worked a couple years on making a raker with help from a couple others, including one who was planning on coming with him to Omeo Island. The raker was finished, I stood on it and unlocked it for the other guy to go on. Some man in his twenties dragged me off and took the raker. I chased for a few days with my darter, then realized I should go back for the other guy. He was gone "looking for me." I'm now sailing away in a darter, fairly depressed.

But I think Bowser's story is worse.

One of my chars witnessed that. It was completely surreal. This newspawn came into town and went directly onto the ship, dragged your char off and sailed away. In the same minute or so. Everyone just went: "What the...."

Yeah, my husband? I don't even bother. I was playing it when we first met and he didn't understand it then. Quit for a while - didn't even bother to tell him I'm playing again lol. He knows because he sees the "green" on the computer screen sometimes but hahaha just rolls his eyes and walks away. If I ever got him to try it though, we'd be fighting for the computer. Who can resist??

This is making me want to try and convert my girlfriend...

Think I shall wait until at least one of my new batch of characters is doing something worth talking about. "Well no, he/she's not doing much interesting, I know. But they only spawned recently, it takes a few weeks to get the ball rolling. The games takes years of dedication"

Maybe not the best opener.

I like you BadMonkey. Usually people who return and do stupid things like name themselves returner are complete retards, but you're alright.
I did it cuz I hate you.

My wife has zero interest, and generally just doesn't understand the appeal. She's not really into any kind of games at all. She likes to play the Sims, because she gets to design stuff (same for Farmville) but that's the extent of it. I have to admit, she's the only thing keeping my attention tethered to the Earth.
