Sweet Jesus! *Hears his mother in the background "KEEP HIM OUT OF THIS"* ...

yeah. That's pretty cool. Three Cantr players born on the same day (Although obviously not the same year :P) - What are the chances, really?

Physho and Kat, we're going to have a birthday party at my place :) - I'll buy the booze (Since I'll be able to then! WOO!) - And yuo two buy your own round trip plane tickets, because I'm cheap.

(And of course, no one will understand the joke I'm trying to put out. SO I shall explain. I don't drink, so it'll only be THEM drinking. Two drunk girls, one sober guy. Must I say more? :D - Nah, kidding, kidding.)

Ha. Ha. Ha. Trage? When you say "People", you mean "2 people", right? Because, well, I think we all thought you were below 10 ;)

In my family, 13 is one of our luckiest numbers. Of course, my family has a warped sense of what 'lucky' is.

Assuming that there are 695 pairwise different Cantr players, and assuming that there are 366 possible birthdays, the chance for three players being born on the same day is Image (actually, if c is the chance we are talking about, the given term describes 1/c).

Using the above formula in my windows calculator, then applying 1/x to it results in a chance of approximately 86 percent for the event that 3 Cantr players are born on the same day.

The formula is clear enough to play around with other numbers for the number of players or for the number of possible birthdates respectively.

Assumptions have been described above. An additional assumption is, that the calculator works correctly. I have not spent any thought on how to get the most accurate result from a calculation with such huge numbers involved.

86%? Are you sure? That seems a bit high...

Erm. My question was rethorical anyway. You didn't need to go all Math Wiz on us :P

Yes, I am sure, under the given assumptions. The formula is correct, the correctness of the percentage depends on the correctness of the calculator.

And it doesn't seem that high, if you take into account, that with the numbers I used, the chance for two Cantr players to share a birthday is 100%.

I was aware that you asked a rhethorical question. However, your rhethorics appeared to suggest that said chance is very low, which is not the case. I just thought, I'd correct that, since it can't be in your interest to raise a wrong impression. ;)

Short addition:

It is quite common, that people are surprised about the great likelyhood of doubled birthdays for a given number of people.

The probability that there are two shared birthdays in a group of 23 people (assuming there are only 365 possible dates) is greater than 50%. When there are 45 people in said group, the probability is already above 90%. :)
