Would this serve any purpose beyond roleplay? I'm of the opinion that there are already too many unused or under-used "roleplay-only" items in-game and adding one more doesn't seem terribly necessary.

I think it is very necessary, because Cantr is a "roleplay-only" game.

I understand this, but my point is that the game already has a lot of under-utilized (or not utilized at all, at least that I've seen) roleplay-only items and that adding another one really seems to be a waste of coding. Put it this way: Have you ever been playing and thought "Wow, if only I had a fan (or feather pillow, or reamer, or bouquet, or mailbox) right now this roleplay would be so much deeper"? If you have, you're a much better roleplayer than I and I salute you. Either way I think that stuff (and this) is relatively worthless and does nothing to enhance my game experience.

Re: abanicos - fans
Well, luckily there's no coding involved at all. Having under-utilized objects in game is only a problem if they are supposed to be utilized (like bronze items). RP items add flavour and don't do any harm if they are unused.
I'd still like to limit the available type to two or three at best. If someone can come up with reasonable specifications we can discuss it in RD.

Pretty in pink.

- The Folding type made out of silk cloth and wood. Tools scissors, knife and needle.
- The Brise' with wood, string and feathers. Same tools
- The Fixed with wood only using a knife.

These were also used at weapons in ancient Japan. Mainly the brise and folding ones.
"fans were even used as a weapon - called the iron fan, or tiě shān in Chinese, tessen in Japanese"

Re: abanicos - fans
Wow...
Having something like Tassen would be a great thing - a weapon of little power, requiring a lot of skill. In practice mostly a RP-only item, but still... so nice
I don't think wed should implement to many kinds of these, though. How about just:
- silk folding
- wooden brise
- iron/steel brise (with weapon functionality)
- wooden fixed/comfyhold
(maybe all types aside of iron/steel brise should have a weapon functionality of, like, a spoon?)
I think those would mostly cover what most people think about when they think about a fan.

Re: abanicos - fans
How about... ivory, wood an steel.
Three types. The steel one could be used as a weapon...
brise-> 300 grams ivory and a carving knife needed
jenny lind->250 wood +100 feathers, knife and neddle
tessen (weapon)-> 300 steel, file and hammer.

Re: abanicos - fans
a "jenny lind" + a "wooden shaft" = we could play vassal characters.

Yes. The more rp-only items the better.
