Re: Welcome, New Players! (or Welcome Back, Old Players!)
Hi Cantr (is there a pronunciation guide for that?) Community.
I apologize in advance if this posting is supposed to be IC. Spent some time searching for a new place to spend some time, and here I sit spending some. I hope to spend more in the future and interact with as many of you as possible. I am not sure if I am supposed to post my character names or not, so I will just hold back on "opening my mouth and removing all doubt".
Anyways...I like the concept and the community and hope that I can contribute to the enjoyment of all whose paths I may cross.
Be well

Welcome indeed! And I do believe it's pronounced Canter like that of a horse.
And you NEVER have to post your charries names unless you want to. Many here value anonymousness-icity...? I made a new word!

I think my brain just exploded.
Welcome, Alladinsane.. How'd you find us, anyways? Sounds like random net search to me.

Yes...and you got some on my screen...eww.
And hello Alladinsane, being anonymous is one of the good things about Cantr, although there is nothing wrong with letting people know who you are, as long as you do not break the four day rule (See Wiki for that)
Anyways, have fun!

Re: Welcome, New Players! (or Welcome Back, Old Players!)
Yes, it was a random search looking for some kind of browser based rpg. While this one was app #10 on the list, it had some elements that I really liked.
I am not quite clear on the 4day rule and not trying to shortcut researching by expecting/asking someone here to recite it for what is probably the (insert random exaggerated number here) th time. I did read the "capital" rule and a (probably) typo'd version called the "cardinal" rule. I will figure it out in research, since I love doing that anyways.
Thank you all for the warm welcome; I hope that (after I make all of the standard new player mistakes) we can generate some great times together. Now its back to the research...well, maybe another log in first.
oh yeah...I was pronouncing it correctly. Call it a personal victory.
Be well

Welcome. If the Capital Rule is Cantr's constitution, the 4-day rule is one of the many laws that are being enforced by staff. You can find some of these rules about in a semi-organized fashion. Others are buried. Some are absent, and you won't find out about them until you're contacted for breaking one. If that happens, don't take it personally. Such is life in the world of Cantr - mostly disorganized.
Oh, and the forum search function is mostly broken, so don't rely on searching here to come up with the information you need/want. You seem to have made a good impression, so you've earned yourself some capital to ask questions
You can also PM me any questions you might have (you'll probably have a lot).

Hello Cantr, I'm new. I found this game on a browser game listing site thingy and thought it sounded really cool. I'm really shy about the whole real-time roleplaying thing, but I'm trying. >__o I'm not entirely sure how to assimilate myself/my character into the community.

Welcome!
While Cantr can be real-time, it's not designed to be, so don't feel any pressure as if it were a chat room. You can take time to think over your character's replies and reactions.
The easiest way to integrate your character is to remember that your character only knows what they've experienced (and, if you wish to use it, what's in the Cantr Wiki.) Your character will appear in a strange place with strange people, and have absolutely nothing to their name. Where are they? Who are the people around them? How would you feel if you came into the world in this manner. Start from there and build on your character's personality. Oh, and read the notes on the ground. Most places have laws, and these laws are typically posted in notes on the ground. Breaking them isn't a good way to start off on your first character
