I've been reading the reports and most of the descriptions have been well written. Some haven't noticed that line breaks were filtered out, so thier lists got a bit crammed, one person had something that seemed physically impossible and one player included character names in their descriptions, but overall people were writing very nicely. Of course it might be that the most talented writers come up with something fast and easily, while the less experienced ones might not be interested in the whole thing or might fart up something fast after descriptions actually become visible.

Currently there are only 249 described characters out of 5939, so that's 4%. Even I haven't described all of my characters yet.

Just my opinion, but I think having a few line breaks would be nice. Limit to like 3 or 4 if it really matters... but its better than none.

It doesn't really matter, much, but its enough to have two or three short paragraphs, which could keep some descriptions more organized. Long lists still wouldn't be possible, but... thats what the inventory and clothing lists are for, right?

For the scar, if one was to describe how the scare looked or what weapon was made with it I honestly see no harm in THAT as Cantr mechanics work similar (if not identical). Noting that the scare is older or "newer" is also acceptable (to imply a time line) and even stating a loose age limit shouldn't be particularly as realistically these things could, in theory, be told if people paid more attention to such things in RL.

Line breaks couldn't hurt provided they didn't take away from your character limit, though 3-4 wouldn't matter as that's only 3-4 characters which are added.

I think a clarification like the one Natso posted is really necessary though, and there needs to be more emphasis on it being a physical description only. I've come across people who really do emote their thoughts, and there are probably more who wouldn't be able to resist/wouldn't know any better that to put in the wrong kind of details in a description.

Most MUDs I've played that take RP seriously have as required reading a detailed explanation of how to write a description, including good and bad examples, and there's people who still don't get it. Turn everybody lose with just vague guidelines and you're going to be getting flooded with reports.

There should very obviously not be an EXTENSIVE "read through" more than already is as Cantr NEEDS players and such extensive "homework" to simply play a game is, quite frankly, elitist and asinine to ask. Something should be, perhaps, added to the "first days in Cantr" portion of the Wiki but that's the extent I would say than a full page worth of MANDATORY READING. (Cantr is NOT a MUD, this is why I like it.)

PD is going to get retarded reports of people who think a certain way regardless. I can only IMAGINE the noise they get with somethings that have been shouted OOC just within the game itself. People like to distort and twist the CR to their will and whim in order to formulate the game they THINK Cantr SHOULD BE rather than IS... so that's a poor argument about flooding of reports. (The "ocean sun kissed" argument via the other thread is a prime example of this.)

Yes, I agree that this would make sense for consistency's sake, since you can see how a person was killed. Although that brings up a good point that the current mechanics are a bit silly. Maybe should be changed to just list the weapon type (stabbed, slashed, bludgeoned).

If someone has scars on the palm side of their wrists, I think it's pretty obvious what they were doing.

Yes, you would know they slashed their wrists, but would you know they did it with a battle axe vs. a broadsword? In Cantr you would, which is why I think it's a bit silly.
