There's a dirtyness bar that could be used for this. Of course you wouldn't be able to tell different kinds of dirt apart.
The real problem with fingerprints is that the program would have to keep track of which character has been where over the last few years.
Evidence and forensics.

Fingerprints fade away after a cantr year. Or whatever the current backlog of the server is.
(But unless we have back buttons, I don't see this *ever* coming up

IMO there is a real need for this. In real life, evidence stacks against a criminal. In cantr world, its ALL hearsay. A good lier, trumps the truth. Lets see some form of basic evidence enter cantr, please.

This is too advanced for Cantr you say.. but, from your post in the CCTV thread, I get the feeling you supported CCTV (may be wrong?).
This is much simpler than building a car is. I'd go as far as saying it's even more simple than making a radio.
A fingerprint is easy to see in real life, and not hard to match to another.
Yet a radio is an extremely complex system which is highly technological.. it was only invented in the last few hundred years.
Unless I've misinterpreted what you meant, and you mean it's too advanced for the Cantr system to program in?

Yes you are wrong. My quote:

Is a subtle way of saying that if you implemented something like this, people would demand a way to neutralize it, so there's really no point. I didn't bother getting into other reasons why I don't like it because when a thread is not going anywhere, I don't waste my time (like this one).
Fingerprint technology really didn't take off until the 1950s, way after radios were invented and way before CCTV. You can't just take two fingerprints and compare them. You have to obtain them from an object and transfer them onto a media suitable for comparison. It's not a simple matter, and would have a very limited application in the game (IMO) for the very large amount of coding you'd have to do to accommodate it.

Good, I feel we're on the same wave-length..
I'm actually against forensics and CCTV right now..
I mean, it's the wrong thread, but CCTV.. really? We don't even have TV's yet.. geeeez

Truth has never mattered in Cantr. The first person to yell thief is always believed, and copy/pasted events are always believed without question. We don't need forensics, we just need everyone to wake up and see what's going on around them. Town leaders - stop automatically believing everything your told. Crooks - start forging your events and pass them off as "proof." If ever there was a need for a trial by jury system, Cantr needs one. Players are just too impatient and too trigger happy to ever utilize it. Forensics is just a lazy way out of a problem created by the players themselves.

Seconded.
On Topic: Indeed this is to fix a player generated problem which, in reality, is an OOC issue which can't technically be fixed in game as the "copy-paste" that is events will still most likely take president over any "forensics" for a quick and/or simple solution.
No one HONESTLY wants to waste time on project ticks looking for the boogie man. It would come to "HE DID IT" as has been in the past and dealt with quickly in order to return to whatever it was that everyone was doing before the "disruptive event".
I say "project ticks" as anything to simple for this and its just more OOC type information that most people ignore. Half the time when people die the cause of death is rarely checked unless someone else says something on the matter. So adding to this is rather pointless and, quite frankly. stupid.
NOT TO MENTION this is ALSO beyond the current mechanics that is Cantr.

Re: Evidence and forensics.
It's a tricky one, because one of the few easiest solutions is to give characters the option to make 'original' event notes, which I am against completely but at least destroys the copy-paster issue.
And lol Dudel, the events will take president?
Do you mean 'presidence'? If so, you're still wrong, it's 'precedence'.. lol
