Multiple Note / Envelope Issue

I have several characters with which I have been trying to put multiple notes into an envelope, specifically with characters that will be dying so that when they do there are not 400 notes for someone to have to pick up. When I click on the multiple operation button to check boxes to put these notes into an envelope (having lots of envelopes already in inventory) I then click put them in the envelope. Normally it then would bring me to a list of the envelopes to choose which envelope to put it into, however...with mutliple characters of mine now, it will not list ANYTHING. It does not give me the option to put it in any envelope. Need help please.
