Making Milk from Rice + Water.

Postby Cogliostro » Wed Feb 10, 2010 5:57 pm

Many cooking recipes require milk and it's a bit of a mystery where players are supposed to get it. It's very hard in some areas to find milk-animals to hunt and kill. It's awkward all around.

So, the suggestion is to make milk from rice + water, with a bucket, just like in real life (thanks Alf for the info).

Yes that would be nice.

I would rather have domesticated cows... Why does it have to be so complicated to implement?

Seko, my feeling is that it's because we get way too pedantic about every little thing.

"Oh but it wouldn't be realistic..."

"Oh but it's a society simulator..."

Then ten real life years pass, and still nothing in that direction has been implemented, because it's all got to be ultra-fancy and anal retentive. There're geeks in charge, instead of reasonable people! :D

Milk could be made out of rice like irl. Mix rice+water in a bucket.

Many thanks, alf! Brilliant idea, I knew if I posted someone would suggest exactly the right thing.

I'm hoping that the current water scarcity will be resolved in a gameplay-considerate way. Otherwise this milk will be like milk made of "gold".

I'd like to see you make cheese out of rice milk.

Man, here we go. :D

Here come the gallant pedants.

Forget what we all already said, the points we raised - there's an existing recipe for cheese in which rice milk would not be realistic. It's a sociaty simulator....

Blimey, do we REALLY have to be like that? Is that what Cantr's all about?

The points who raised? You mean "the opinion you (singular) stated".

It's just charming how you manage to convey your apparent disrespect for anyone who dares to have a different point of view into everyone of your rhethoric-bloated little speeches, but I will do so anyway, even I have to read through more of it in the answer.

The world of Cantr is supposed to be fairly realistic, even though exceptions have been made frequently for technical reasons or for sake of simplicity. The result is admittedly fairly unrealistic more often than not, but those oddities are in the game by necessity, not by design.
Making a cheese from rice would add to the unrealty of the game, but for no good reason at all. Cheese or ice cream are not necessary for anything, as are most foods. Apart from that, there is no need for substitute milk, since there is real milk in the game. If the supply is too short, the amount of milk per animal can be raised or the milk demand in recipies can be lowered.

Then do it and add more cows to every location (and other milk giving animals).

Make female characters drop milk when they are killed.

Better to milking them when they are alive.

Down, down, /b/ champions. There are some women involved playing and administering the game, and they might find your dashing gallantry underwhelming.

In summary and clarification, the proposition has now crystalized down to this:

Add a project to the bucket, called "Making Rice Milk", that requires 1000g of rice and a little water, and produces 500g of milk.

A boon for vegetarian/vegan characters too.
