Personally, I think it'd be fun to have 5-6 characters with the same plan, but who go about that plan in radically different ways. Like, example:
1. Work until I can afford a boat.
2. Steal the first boat I can find unlocked.
3. Join a crew and wait until the captain dies then take control of the boat.
4. Join a crew and lead a mutiny.
5. Steal a motorcycle, ransom it back to the original owner in trade for a dinghy, use said dinghy to hail a galleon, pretend to have been a former ship captain set adrift by pirates, earn their trust, sleep with their current captain, kill current captain, pretend to grieve over dead captain, sleep with new captain, kill new captain, pretend to grieve a little more, declare yourself captain, kill rest of crew, sail to port, recruit new crew.
6. Beg until given a boat.

Re: Characters that irritate yours -
Naedell! I have several charries on Treefeather and most can't stand her. Only because she always goes to a place and causes trouble or a char will go there and see or experience death for any reason. One char was in Dory, never met her, watched her take someone, later hear about vicious rumors, and will will never go to Blackrock. I had another Char that was in LFE when the Blackrocks arrived. That was fun! Made friends with them, eventually became a Blackrock! Then went on a trading expedition to Pok Harbour and was killed because I was a Blackrock. I was so pissed! Sorry for the run on sentences and long post.

Apparently she doesn't kill quite everybody she meets although still a notable amount of people.

She doesn't kill the people that properly kiss her ass and/or she can use. Good character, I hope she takes over more territory and rules with the ironfist that she has. But my charries want nothin to do with her or her people.

She's an interesting char and it's fun to see what does or doesn't bother her. My char wasn't exactly polite to her during their first encounter (made demands and called her crazy), had/has nothing of any use to offer her, but is still living.

I must be a very lucky player then, with a 100% success rate.

Bai-Ling and Woden Mark. Can't wait for their house to be built so they quit whispering outside.
