Out of all the characters in the entire game, the Mapmakers are the ones who've made the most positive contribution to the game. They've helped RP, helped towns locate resources, helped understand how big the world is, put a lot of time and effort into the game, etc etc.

Even if he was an ass, what ever player/character killed him is a dick, lol. And I'm saying that in a good mood. :P

So what was Carl like? I'd be mega curious to know. Was he just up himself about map-making etc??? Was he rich? Did people pay tributes/give donations to him for being a map-maker???

If I remember correctly what my character was told, he stole some stuff from the place he was killed at. While his Noniwrok maps are great (though not ground breaking), I should point out that people that try using his world map in any other direction other than the ones he took tend to get lost when heading between islands. I think it says somewhere in the world atlas that it's not to scale, but it's not a prominent announcement ;) Also, he was one of those irritating cartographers that put his maps oriented north.

All in all, my personal assessment is that Gallagher is truly the first person to (indirectly) link the two English zones, but any other contributions are really blown out of proportion.

Thanks for that.

I can't believe he stole! If he played it right, and wasn't a dick, I'm sure people would bend over backwards for him!

"Oh, I'm a poor map-maker and I need donations to continue my cause! I'd like to make another revisement of these maps as they may be wrong but I've run out of funding and it takes too long with my current resources.."

Something as simple as that.. heh. What a shame.

Any up and coming map-makers out there? Perhaps we could start a new thread rather than going much off topic..

Many should eat plenty in Nraam with last I remember 20,000 potatoes freely available in the bakery and unlocked castle, ya lazy gits! :)

Back on track:
Weaver
and the guy randomly naming types of wood, (I forget name) both on Omeo/Rus island
One of my characters carries around the "types of wood" note still, and wonders what happened to that guy.
Weaver was from long ago and had started building houses all across the west coat on Omeo, giving away free food and wood.

More recently, Sky, of Teregotha. Sleepy last I knew, and keeping warm in someone's arms hopefully. :)

Who ever wrote the note called Woman of the Road, signed the Nameless Nomad, 2782, I've seen a copy of it in a couple of places and it's an interesting take on a phenomenon that's generally ignored. There's a well done drawing, too.

I checked the db where that character is and the notes I saw were on Omeo island, and quite a distant part of it, while the character is in a whole different place. I hope the notes weren't copied OOC since that would be a bummer.

I think travel between that side of the island and Omeo is common, at least what I've seen recently IC.
