What do you guys think about it? Your views would be appreciated.
I feel disappointed when a character I put a lot of effort into naming dies pointlessly, and I've gotten to the point where I've practically exhausted my stock of cool-sounding names. I'll be damned before I name a character something stupid like "Ethelfled" or "Gertrude"... *shiver*

I sometimes rank my faves based on how well I like their names. lol
I think the general rule is that you can use the same name as long as the personality is different and vice versa. "Reincarnating" chars is not allowed. I'm sure that will be corrected if I'm wrong. There are several char names from my old account I'd love to use again, but have resisted the urge.

Hmm.. Do you mean reusing the exact same name?
Surely you can be more imaginitive than that!!
Provided the character wasn't well known, and you aren't using both the first and last name, it should be fine.
But if you're using the exact same name, then I'm pretty sure it's a CRB as I got picked up on it.

You could go to babynamesworld.com and see if your cool names have other existing forms, or if there are other names with the same meaning - assuming that the names you came up with are actual names. Using the exact same name is inadvisable. Some people do it but if the old character was for example killed for being a total jerk and/or a troublemaker, the new character might be eyed with suspicion if he ends up on the same region, and secondly, if the name is unusual, people will know that you played both of those characters.
If you can't come up with a name, it's perfectly okay to start without one and let others come up with suggestions. If something sounds good, you take it, while if nothing feels right, you can continue searching or remain as one of those nameless people. (There were several of those in the statistics.)

Eh. I wasn't exactly asking if it was against the rules, more for the opinions of other players. I'm sure reusing a single first or last name is fine, although if you continuously reuse names, won't you eventually create a character whose personality is similar to the original? I know that I don't decide my character's personalities right away, and let circumstance dictate them at first.

This I have tried before, and to my experience I often get named something ridiculous or boring. I'll try going to that website and coming up with new ones.

That's where most of my names come from now. I especially like my "Dark Flower"
