Fuel-consuming motor for boats.
Just a buildable petrol/diesel motor object for all types of boats, that improves the boat's movement speed when powered. Similar to how riggings and sails work but a bit more powerful.

I think it is good idea, but maybe make it possible only for smaller boats? Like dinghty, longboat, darter etc. I think that raker with sails is now pretty fast.

Lets we add then new type of boat suitable for motor bit larger then dinghy but smaller then larger boats. It can be with metal hull even, but I think wood hull can be OK as well or both type of hull designs.

So pieces to the engine?
Engine parts:
1000 grams of iron
40 grams of magnesium
40 grams of rubber
((1) Propeller)
Tools: screwdriver, pincers, Wrench,
Propeller:
150g of steel
Tools: Hammer, Screwdriver, Pincers.
@Seko, What if it was an up grade to Rowing boat through an on board project which included fiber glass which would then allowed it to have an outboard motor.
Fiber Glass:
1000g glass bar
150g Cotton Fibers
50g Resin
Workbench
= 500g of fiber glass in one day
Would be nice if it can be added to all ships for reduced overall ship weight, allowing them to travel faster.

Isn't the whole idea of a society simulator an OOC concept?returner wrote:Snake_byte wrote:..............A long boat has a pointed ends and any other boat is too large. ................and row boats are flat bottom and back with a pointed front........
Isn't that an OOC concept?
Anyways, I agree with this, for smaller boats, but I wonder if a propeller should be able to be used for more ships than outboard motors?

Well, why shouldn't you be able to refit a boat with an inboard motor? I would reserve this to certain types of boats though. The soarer for example is a pretty unpopular vehicle as far as I know and the ability to refit it with a propeller (or a paddle wheel, since propellers aren't invented yet
) would certainly make it more attractive.
Pretty in pink.

In another recent thread there seems to be quite a lot of public momentum toward reducing the travel-times on land. In a similar way, if there was an optional (and pretty expensive to build) motor for all the boats it wouldn't unbalance anything - only working as basically a similar travel-time reduction for nautical travel. Makes sense if you think about it.

He is saying we shouldn't include motors to longboats because of an OOC perception of what the boat looks like. And I am disagreeing with him, I am supporting this idea for all boats.
