Dragging resources suggestion

Postby Idriveayugo » Wed Dec 30, 2009 1:28 pm

How about when someone goes to drag resources, if it's over a certain amount, say 15,000, a person can select how much of the resource they want to drag.

So for example, if there is 300,000 of a resource and a person has a wheelbarrow, but can't drag it, they can select to drag 40,000 of it at a time.

This allows them to move the limestone in 8 easy drags, instead of having to pick up 15,000 (at most) of the limestone until it is small enough to be dragged.

I agree. This is a pretty damn good idea.

This was already rejected earlier. It's called pile splitting and large piles are supposed to be difficult to handle. If people could just take out a part of it bigger than they can pick up and drag that, then repeat, it would make piracy much faster.

That's a good reason not to do it. On the other hand, we could always just make it harder for people to pirate.

For example, I always liked the idea of having towns be able to build city gates in order to be entered.

This would make it more difficult for people to attack major towns, while at the same time push people to go to major towns for security. In real life people have huddled around major population centers for security and Cantr should be no different.

Anyways, while the consequences of implementing this idea from an in game standpoint should be considered, the practicality behind this idea I think outweighs this. Nevertheless, your concerns are quite valid.

Well, it seems pretty illogical that you can't take a part of a larger heap. I think the real problem here is that dragging is too easy. If dragging would make you considerably tired, splitting heaps wouldn't be a problem anymore.
Pretty in pink.

Increasing tiredness from dragging sounds like a good idea. I think the tiredness you get should be based on the weight of target instead of being a set number.
